  1. Your support mean so much to me. I knew you guys would understand what a mixed blessing this is. Misty
  2. Well, it is over.. my fabolous journey with my lap band. On Saturday at 8:30 am, Dr. Pucci needed to remove my band due to my body rejecting it. I ended up in the hospital again, if anyone is counting that is 4 times in 2 months, and I was diagnosed with gastric parisis...AKA my stomach stopped working. So, They too out the band, and in recovery I was drinking, no throwing up and have alrady gotten back to solids. Very small amounts.. but, I feel so much better. I am a bit depressed, I truly loved my band... but I love my life more. I am very sore and just got home from the hospital... I will write more later. Misty

  4. I am back, after another stint in the hospital. It seems as if my dr put a medium band in me, and it probably should have been a large. So, if I am not VERY careful, I start to throw up, and then my stomach swells, and I end up completely obstructed. What a mess, right? Well, not really, even with all this, I still think this is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I love my band.. eventhough it is a medium. What I am trying to do right now is just get thru the next 3 weeks of school, and then I will have my band taken out and replaced with a larger band. I have no saline in there now, and still have problems. It is tough. But, I am looking HOT!!! I am down 75 lbs!!! It amazes me. Of course I am on soft foods and will stay there for the remained of the semester. I am scared. If I have to get one more potassium drip, someone will die!!! ( maybe a nurse... but probably Dr. Pucci!):omg: Have a great day guys! Misty
  5. Thanks Tweety.. How is everyone doing?
  6. An obstruction is when NOTHING gets thru the band, it doen't have to be a thing, it could judt be sweelling or overfilled. We are pretty sure mine was swelling, but between the time that the last of the fluid was removed, and the endoscopy, something, maybe beef from easter may have fallen thru. Never know. I am happy to be on the road to recovery! Thanks for the well wished Vivki Misty
  7. Well, Tuesday a.m I ended up in the E.R. I was throwing up constantly, and couldn't even get water down. While I was there I had a GI which showed I had a total obstruction. My Dr, Pucci was about to get out another 1/2 cc of fuild from my band, and with a little rest and lots of IV.. I am here today. Yesterday they sent me to get an endoscopy, and it was fine, they were able to get pass the band... which saved me form surgury today. They thought they might have to replace my band... Ugh.. imagine the terror. I was terrified not of the surgury, but what if they were unable to put a band back in. Yes, this banding has not been the easiest thing in the world, but it is very important to me and my health. It makes me feel like a "normal" person. So, I am back to step 2 liquids, and am damn happy doing it. The thing that I will never forget in my life again, and learned here first... is..ifI do throw up, go on liquids for 24 hours. Dr. Pucci said everyone is difffrent, but that is deffinatly the case with me. Anyway, Boys and girl.. I am home, I am happy.. and I am now probably over the 70 lb mark.. Yippie! Psst.. they asked if I would be a spokes man someday.. lol Love it Misty
  8. I think I am going to try to get thru the night. I got a few sips of gatoraid down, and if it is not better in the am, I will call. Usually the am is better. I will stick to fluids tommorrow, and see where I end up. Crappy thing, is that I have a big test on Thursday, and I do not have time to feel this bad!!! It actually hurts! :cry But, damn I am looking good... lol My mother always used to say, "Beauty hurts!" UGH! Misty By the way, thanks for all your help, you guys are the greatest!
  9. I am still having a rought time eating. What do you all do if you have a hard time getting anything to stay down? I am hungery and want to eat, but can't get it to stay. yesterday i threw up at least 4 times.... UGH! I have no saline in my band either. when I was in the hospital my dr removed it. i am now at -66 lbs.. but I sure didn't want it this way.. it isn't very healthy. I feel like a bulimic... HELP :help:
  10. i am still having troublems getting down real food. When I do I end up throwing up, and the Dr removed all the fluid he could when I was in the hospital. It makes it rough. I try to remind myself this is temporary, but with weight loss like this I hate to complain... I ordered the complaint bands too.
  11. Tweety, If I can throw my 2 cents in. I know when I was about 15, my mom was in a weight loss program, and was successfully losing weight. It really bothered me. I remember crying a lot, mostly because I knew at that age, that it meant that my mom was not happy with herself. The woman that I idolized was not happy with herself. It shook me to the core. I would not be surprised if our children feel that way. i do not discuss my band or weight loss with my kids. Probabaly because of what I went thru as a kid, now that I think about it. The mind is an amazing thing. Angela, Are you going to do a monthly update of all that are here from Nov bandings? I love reading those. By the way... Happy April! Misty
  12. i have been having a few problems, latly. 2 weeks ago, I go the stomach flu that was going around, and I started to vomit.. ALOT! After a week of not even being able to hold down water, I finnally ended up in the hospital. It was scary. They thought I might have moved my band. Thank God, that was not the case. But they did remove all the saline from the band, and I was on IV for 3 days. It was rotten. It has been a week and a half, and I still am having troubles holding down anything substantial.. except.. cookies! What the hell is that? It is not a joke, I can hold down cookies, but I am struggling with the pastina I ate for dinner... Crazy stuff. So, if i may offer a bit of advice.. sanitize.. sanitize...sanitize... As banded people we are not as good at dealing with the stomach flu as others. Misty
  13. Yesterday, I looked in the mirror, and I saw it.. me 53 lbs thinner. It honestly scared the hell out of me. My first thought was how many people end up divorced after weight loss surgury, and my second thought was "Will my hubby still love me if I am thinner?" Sounds crazy, but I was terrified. I went to find him, and he reasure me that he loves me and always will no matter what I look like. Funny, I never felt insecure at 350.. pretty much knew my man loved me and at 6'1" tall, I knew I was overweight, but I saw myself more a "force to be recconed" with than a "fat slob" Now that I am getting there.. I am bouncing between 264-267 lbs, I see it... I see the old Misty emerging. My hubby Ben, never knew me thin, and I was insecure about it. Has anyone else gone thru this? Do I need to go back to the therepist?? He did make me feel better. He kindly pointed out that he thought it might be better when I was thinner, not harder. I think he is right. The mind is a crazy place.. Misty
  14. Tom, Now that you have your ticker up there, your progress hit my eye. You are doing awesome. Congratulations!!! We are all doing great. I just can't say enough about the wonders of the band! Misty
