Hmmmm....

I think it would depend on how heavy you were prior to surgery. Someone who weighs 450 pounds would more than likely lose more than someone who weighs 250.

But.... 10 pounds lost is an incredible number for a week. Over a pound a day. How much were you expecting to lose? Are you disappointed in that number? If someone else posted that loss on the boards what response would you be posting for them? I am trying to gauge if you seem happy with the loss or disappointed because your post could be read either way.

Congrats on the loss.

I weighed 194 when I checked into surgery now 184. I think you are right the more you need to lose the bigger the number would be. I was just wondering on average what people lose the first week. I know it's a process but when I think Of what is going into my body I should be just weathering away. Lol

My advice is to look at your loses at one month out - I gained 20 lbs in the hospital with all of the shenanigans i went through with complications. don't worry - you dont have much of a choice but to lose once the post-surgery madness settles down.

I am appoaching 5 months out - stalled the entire month of September and am still meeting my own personal WL goals this month. Your sleeve is a permanent tool, it doesnt go away :)

Hi! Tomorrow I weigh myself (every 3 days or I get fixated) it will be day 8. Last weigh-in was Tuesday and I was thrilled with an 7.5 lb.. loss and I started much heavier than you! (DOS 255.5, day 5 post-op 248). I'm happy I blew past 250 without pause! Poof ... into the 40's! (Imagine the thrill to be able to say the 140's!! Ecstatic!)

ONLY? You lost 10lbs in one week. That's 1.5lbs per day. That's 1oz every hour.

That doesn't quite qualify as an "ONLY" weight loss. I think what you meant to say is-

HOLY COW!! I lost 10lbs in only 1week!!

You are doing great. 10lbs in a week is outstanding. Keep it up, you'll be at goal before you know it.

That is crazy good weight loss at 1.5 lb a day. I would be doing the happy dance. Most usually level out at 2-3 lbs a week afterbthe first month. There are exceptions, but that is to be expected.

You are starting at a lower weight and yet lost as much as many who start at higher weights. You might want to alter your expectations a bit as things are likely to slow down significantly very soon. In thinking that 10 lbs in a week is an "only" kind of thing you are setting yourself up for some real disappointment.

That's an insane amount of weight to lose in a week. If u keep going at that rate u will lose 40lbs in a month where as the average for 1st month is 20-30lbs. I am 2.5 weeks out and total of 13lbs lost since surgery. I started at 260 day of Surgery. Don't worry ur doing fine :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
