I'm a bit too self indulgent. I have 2 major gifts to myself. The first being knee repair surgery. I've been needing this for years, but I've not gotten it because I knew with all the extra weight I'd probably just mess it up again. The second is an "at goal" gift. I've always wanted a really nice casual suit. So I'm saving up for it, I figure me "vanity" acct will have enought in it about the time I reach goal.

I love this idea. Part of my reward for losing weight was the beginning of a new wardrobe. Yep, as everyone else with weight loss, I had to buy new, sexy cloths! I reward myself by buying only what I absolutely love and not settling for anything because it's my size. I love it too. Now when I get to goal, I want to go on vacation to another country. Not sure which one I want to go to though. But I'll figure it out. Perhaps Germany where my ancestry came from. :)

Years ago when i lost weight onweight watchers I did little mini goal rewards, but for some reason that hasn't "called to me" so I really havent done that.

I do plan on buying some nice custom fit chaps once I am at my final weight!

Well once I hit the century club, I bought myself a really nice ring. I love jewelry though. It was within my budget! But it's the only "prize" I've given myself. Once I get to my "final" goal though, I am going to figure out something else....not sure what ... YET! (It will be soooo weird to get to goal... I've always fought the weight battle, IDK what it'll be like not to fight uphill.....)

I also haven't set small goals. At 35 down I will be half way. I have my eye on the mate to my last diets reward at 30 down which is a 3' tall cut crystal perfume display bottle. I suppose I could make that a half way goal :) It's antique and one of a kind (the pair) so...gosh you have nearly talked me into it.

At goal I'm torn....if we are super flush I'd like to buy a glass window (wheel cut, antique) that is extremely rare. Dh and I both want the danged thing though so perhaps it could be twenty years worth of Christmas gifts lol.

But the one thing I am doing is to meet with a professional stylist at nordstroms and drop some serious cash on a new wardrobe that defines who I am now verses ten years ago when I was my goal weight and wore suits most of the time. Now I float between mixing up horsehair plaster to repair a wall and and fancy dancy cocktail parties. So I need a split personality wardrobe I guess lol. Maybe I should budget in part of that wardrobe from the hardware store!

Boy ya sure feel like a lady when you say you're going cloths shopping at the hardware store.....

I haven't really thought about non rewards yet except for a new wardrobe when I meet my goal weight. I guess I can think of something to keep me motivated and post later.

Iffy chick - I will be halfway at 75 pounds hence the need for mini goals - I think it's gonna be a long journey

I think your mini goals are great :). (But get the iPhone with a computer generated dog app....much easier than a real dog and no poop to scoop!). Lol

I wanted a proper pair of roller skates for a mini-goal reward, but with my osteopenia being on the roller derby team almost guarantees broken bones :( I think I will settle on boots for the winter if my calves will fit.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
