I think I may have a problem! I am 10

Days post op and I am in my purée/protein shake phase and have been dabbling with food to see what my new baby sleeve can handle and such! Well I haven't found anything it don't like yet except bananas. That somewhat scares me!!!

I'm 12 days out and I would be thrilled. I don't want to not be able to eat something. I want to not be able to eat very much of it. I don't think I really ever had a problem eating all the wrong things (although sometimes I did). My problem is that before I could stuff myself with the biggest Mexican food dinner they had and eat it all. And I would make Weight Watchers friendly dinners and eat one serving but then find that I wasn't satisfied and eat 2 or 3 more servings. I also haven't had any problem eating anything yet (although I'm still on liquids). I have had Tomato basil Soup, butternut squash soup, black bean soup and carrot ginger soup so far. Tonight I'm going to try having some cream of chicken. I go back to the doctor on Wednesday and hope to be put on soft foods. I'm gonna have me some eggs, fat free refried black Beans and avocado. I can't eat corn tortillas yet but in a few weeks I' have one or two. I want to eat like a normal, skinny person and hopefully my sleeve will help me do that.

Have you tried making instant sugar free pudding with 2 cups skim milk and 2 scoops unflavored Protein? Yum! Mix the milk and the Protein powder first, then add the pudding.< /p>

I didn't have much more than pudding, popsicles, and Protein shakes for the first few weeks. (Sugar free, of course.) Fish is still my sleeve's favorite meat. It's amazing what even a difference of a few days makes in regards to what your sleeve can tolerate.

It's a huge adjustment that our poor tummies have to make, and a huge adjustment in our heads too. Sometimes my head still thinks I can eat more than what my sleeve knows it can have. At about 2-1/2 months out from my surgery, I'm still only able to eat 1/4-1/2 cup of food. (And that's a GOOD thing, I want to always have this kind of restriction.)

kimbernada, I think you misread her post. She's worried because so far she can eat anything except bananas.

I still can't tolerate eggs. Well, sometimes I can. If I use Egg Beaters, I am typically okay. Real eggs? Nope. Steak and chicken doesn't really sit well either, unless it is super tender/moist. Meh, that's okay with me. As long as a restaurant has fish, I'm okay. I wasn't really a fish eater before the surgery, but I LOVE it now.

I've only really started to incorporate fresh fruit and veggies in the last week or so. Fruit more than veggies. My "surgery bible" says that canned veggies are tolerated more easily. (I love canned green Beans.) However, since our focus is Protein, I haven't really tried too hard to get the greens in. The easiest way for ME to get my Protein is to drink a Protein shake (or protein pudding).

You are fine. My surgeon had me eating scrambled eggs and a few bites of a hamburger two days after surgery. He and his partner have done more sleeves than any other surgeon, and they do to require a liquid phase, puréed phase, etc. all they ask is that I get my Protein in first, and of course keep the other foods I eat healthy as well. Minimize carbs, sugars, etc. I have been eating solids since leaving the hospital. As long as you really chew your food, and eat slowly, it's fine. I'm not telling you to disregard your surgeons instructions, just wanted to assure you that you're not doing anything wrong. I was stressing out right after surgery, wondering if I was doing something wrong, however after two follow up visits with my surgeon, and being reassured by him that I am doing fine, I have relaxed a lot. And it's probably a good thing bananas don't agree with your new sleeve.....they are high in carbs......80 to 90 carbs is what my surgeon says. Good luck, and try not to worry too much. Each person is different and has different experiences with what they can and can't eat. To quote my surgeon, " try it, and if it works, great.....if not don't do it again". This was regarding trying different foods as well as starting an exercise program.

Do you just have milk and protein, or is there something else that you add? I have bought some protein powder but so far have not got a clue what to try it with, thanks, x

This is a time to take full advantage of your sleeve and try to follow your surgeon's and NUT diet to a T for maximum weight loss. You are only 10 days out and your stomach is still swollen. This is the time to go easy and baby your stomach. Drink some Protein Drink if you can't resist. At 10 days I was allowed to have sf pudding, yogurt, sf Jello, and Soups. This helped me lose weight faster and i am very thankful I followed this plan. :)

Well I have dabbled with scrambled eggs I made gravy tonight and had a small bit. From start to now I've lost 18 lbs but I am thinking all of you are correct! I think a lot of it is head hunger saying go ahead.... See if you can handle it I have never exceeded my ounces just a nibble or spoon full of the experimental stuff! OMG bacon curse you bacon!!! I had a tiny corner and mushed it into nothing and it was so good. This is why I'm afraid! Why am I eating things???? And are the things I'm eating forbidden? I don't know. Although I do know the snack cake I took a bite of was empty calories and sugar and for they I'm totally ashamed! So I have a nutrition appointment Wednesday and I don't know if I should tell on myself or not ;(.

Yep, one box of instant sugar free pudding mix, 2 cups milk, 2 scoops of Protein powder. The protein powder that I use to mix in things is Nature's Best Isopure Unflavored. 34 grams of Fiber in a one cup portion. (Or 17 grams per 1/2 cup.) I typically use light soy milk with my Protein shakes, but for me, the pudding didn't set up right - so I use skim milk for pudding. I'm not lactose intolerant, I just like the flavor of the shakes with light soy milk.

I did try making the pudding with my regular protein powder but it was almost too sweet. I like the Syntrax nectar chocolate Truffle protein powder the best for shakes.

Totally tell your nutritionist. She/he can help figure out what foods you could eat instead of what you are eating. You know, "instead of bacon, how about..." Does your weight loss program also have a therapist on staff? Maybe you could visit with the therapist as well, to help determine why you are trying some of these foods. (Sort of a self-sabotaging thing..) Granted, part of the "why" is probably just to see if you can. Us "sleevers" really aren't as limited as someone who has had the gastric bypass. I don't "dump" nor do I "slime". It's up to me to really make the best decisions.

OK listen, right now you are trying to lose weight, even though you may be able to eat these things with no problem - and you want to eventually be able to eat them in moderation - stick with low-fat things right now and keep your carbohydrates fairly low.

I was told to mostly make sure you got at least 60 grams of Protein and make sure you get enough fluids - at least 60 oz a day. And eat your Protein first. If you eat your protein first, low carb vegetables and fruits next and then you won't be able to eat as many high carb fruits and vegetables and grains.

Kind of happy to hear some of the same problems I'm having. I am one week post-op today. Down 17 lbs but I am hungry. I am so tired of Protein Shakes and Water. I did eat some thin mashed potatoes tonight, went down pretty good. Glad I found this app! Best to all

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
