Finally Made The Decision To Go Forward!

Recommended Posts

Well what a journey just deciding to have this surgery has been! My insurance made me go to seven consecutive doctor appts to discuss weight and I'm so glad they did because I FINALLY feel good about my decision to get sleeved! I really really REALLY went back and forth with this and thought I would never decide, but one day it just finally hit me. I am 48 years old. I am exactly like my dad (personality, build, etc) and he had SO many health problems in his later years before he died, many of which were related to his weight. Plus I already suffer from various ailments already which he did NOT at this age. So I'm done thinking about it, I finished the 7 appts, they submitted the paperwork (but are very sure I will get approved) and now I just wait for the next step. They seem to think I will be able to have surgery by the end of THIS month! What a TRIP it will be to be skinny again! I'm so looking forward to getting off all meds, having way more energy, and just feeling the way I'm supposed to feel...and not like an 80 year old! Good luck to everyone else struggling with the decision..it will just hit you one day what to do I think cuz it sure did me!

I can totally relate! I signed up for the 6 month classes required by my insurance convinced I would not have surgery. But when I started thinking how many years (I am 51) have been wasted, dieting, not losing weight, not doing everything I wanted to do because of weight, you realize enough is enough. I too am waiting for insurance approval. Cheers to us and a new life!

I have one month left of a six month supervised diet and have made up my mind since talking to the nurse and dietician on Friday. I need to lose 5 pounds this month and they think insurance will okay it and then I will have the surgery the beginning of January. Still seems so far into the future but I am sure it will go quickly. It does give piece of mind to have the decision made though and also looking forward.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
