Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!

Hey everyone! Just started this thread for the post op octosleevers of 2012. I had my surgery yesterday and all is well. Gas pain is terrible but I've been walking around. Full fluid dinner tonight. Sippin on my oh, cream soup and pudding. They saline locked my IV, catheter is out and I love walking around. Nausea and pain are so far under control. I'm giving myself 3 hours to finish this meal

Has anyone eaten popcorn since being sleeved

Sounds like sleeve suicide! (But I'm only a week post op and still on full liquids).

What happens is that when we loss weight with just cutting calories we loose a large percentage in body mass. That is why it's recommended to exercise or weight lift. Hope this helps?

My understanding on clothes sizes is that bigger sizes have more room than smaller sizes example. I started at 280 and a size 18-20. Today, 35 lbs lighter I am still a size 18. I was a size 18 when I was 230 (prior years) which means even if I lose 50lbs, my clothes size won't change much. But when I get into the smaller sizes (12 or 10) I may only need to lose 10-15 lbs and drop a size. Don't be discouraged! I hope this makes sense :)

I just tried avocado and my stomach is going crazy! Has anyone else tried it? How'd it go?

I had surgery on the 17th. I did good getting my fluids in until last Friday. I ate a small 2 inch bite of fish and I had no problems. Now I want "real food" so bad! I guess I thought I would have a "stop" or something. I am not hungry throughout the day until around 5pm and then I want something/ anything! I know it is head hunger. I haven't lost as much as I thought I would either. I lost 10lbs Pre-op and I think I've only lost 5 pounds since my surgery! I guess I'm having buyers remorse.

I am feeling the exact way! Band converted to sleeve 10.10, lost 15# since 10.1. Seems like nothing is gonna budge!

Went to my 1 week post op appointment today and the doc said I look great!! He said that I can start puréed foods for a week! The most exciting news was I lost 20 pounds since my pre op appointment !!!!!!! My highest weight was 344 now I am 306!!!! 38 pounds down :) can't wait to say goodbye to the 300s!!! I am also cleared to go back to work and to the gym!!! Excited with my weight loss journey !!

Congrats Bethany! I'm also 1 week post-op today. Still hard to believe all us OctoSleevers are now actually in the post-op phase after all the waiting and anticipation on getting this done. Hope everyone else is also doing great!

So i been MIA for awhile, HW was 300...lost 33lbs pre-op...day of surgery(10.9) I was 267....today (11.1) I'm 252.0..15lbs in 3 weeks!!!! Almost a total of 50lbs so far!!! I can't believe it!!!! :D i expected to lose more hen 15lbs but it's better then not losing:)

I was sleeved the 15th, and up until just a few days ago, anything cold would make my new stomach spasm and hurt. Everything, even water, had to be room temp or warmer!

I find that my sleeve doesn't like cold that much (shakes are fine, just other liquids) so I have cut out ice and am drinking closer to room temperature.

I was sleeved on 10/22. I am down 27 pounds including pre-op weight loss. Everyone cannot believe my progress thus far and how much I have changed! Been having a hard time getting in my water because I live in Nj and damn sandy took my electricity. But doing my best! Keep up the great work everyone!!!!

I am in NJ too - started soft foods yesterday, thank God because I had no idea how I was going to puree anything. I had made a yummy broccoli Soup the day before the storm hit and it went bad :(

Sleeved on 10/11/12

Pre-op appointment weight 278

Weighed today 255

I am still trying to figure out what my hungry feels like and what my full feels like. I go back to NUT on the 14th so I look forward to going over my menu with her and seeing what she thinks.

Hurricane Sandy derailed my walking for a few days, but tomorrow back on the daily walk I go!

Hey suejersey - let's put this into perspective, shall we? You said (capital letters are my addition to add emphasis): "I had ONE EGG with a bit of mayo yesterday for lunch and ALMOST FINISHED IT". What would you have had for lunch pre-surgery? You're doing great! Cut yourself some slack. :-D

Hey Susan - thanks for your encouraging words, and you are right! How are you doing? How has the journey been going for you?

Four weeks out and feeling down :( I can eat anything within reason to eat but i feel like whats the point when i can only eat a couple bites. Hate to watch people eat also. Not sure whats going on but i have to force myself to eat and when I do I hate it ;(

You go through times like that, it seems like it is a bother to eat only two or three bites and it does not even taste good. I hated those days! It really gets better, in two weeks you will be eating a couple of bites more and things will get better. This journey really is "one day at a time", especially for the first two months. It really gets better each week :) hang in there!

Yesterday made 2 weeks since my surgery my incisions seem to be healing well. I am down 17 lbs post surgery 42 lbs total :*) I can't wait to see the doc on Tuesday and start full liquids. I am feeling great.

I understand days not wanting to eat. Three weeks out on soft foods. Hard to even get down an egg. Watching others.....they eat so fast, wash down their food, etc. We are on a different path. Not sure how we will fit in with meals with others?? Sleeve feels best right now with pudding and fluids but I know we have to eat also. Best wishes to all!!!
