  1. Hey everyone! Just started this thread for the post op octosleevers of 2012. I had my surgery yesterday and all is well. Gas pain is terrible but I've been walking around. Full fluid dinner tonight. Sippin on my oh, cream soup and pudding. They saline locked my IV, catheter is out and I love walking around. Nausea and pain are so far under control. I'm giving myself 3 hours to finish this meal
  2. I know there is an October group here somewhere but I thought I would start this off by introducing ourselves! I'm 25 years old and from British Columbia, Canada. My surgery is set for October 2. My pre op ensure shake diet starts September 2 but I have started a week early for a head start I am A nurse by profession and engaged but no kids. With my history of PCOS kids will come after I drop the weight. Starting weight: 280lbs Current Weight: 275 and losing everyday!!
  3. Hey all. I had decided to take a break from this thread a few months ago. I was starting to get obsessed with other people's losses, not remembering that this is a journey not a race. But I must agree with all of u. I was sleeved oct 2 and total loss (including pre op) is 50 lbs. I'm not fretting it tho (well I am a little). My wedding is aug 30 2014 and in order to be at my goal is 150lbs I need to lose 5lbs a month...slow and steady. I'm at 233 right now

    Super Saturday Weigh In

235.8 yesterday! That almost a 3 lbs loss this week. Weighed myself this morning and I was 237 but I'm not discouraged. Also had a visit from Aunt Flo this morning (sorry for those who think its TMI) so that may be contributing to the extra 2lbs today.

    October sleevers

Don't worry tabby! I was sleeved oct 2 as well. Dos I was 260 and today 234 so I feel ya! I am counting it as 31 lbs since surgery because the day I came home I was 265 from all the fluids. It will happen! Besides the slower we go the less chances of loose skin. Are u gettin in all ur Water and Vitamins an Protein?
  6. And none of my tests were painful or uncomfortable
  7. Hey girl! I had my surgery in Victoria BC but that's where I'm from so a lot of ur questions I can't answer. No I didn't have a psych eval. I saw a dietician, had an upper GI endoscopy, had a pulmonary function test, saw my endocrinologist(hormone specialist cause I have PCOS), was given 6 months by my doctor to lose weight on my own...
  8. Starting weight - 280 (probably more but 280 was my highest weight I saw on a scale) Date of surgery 10/02/2012 - 260 lbs Day after surgery 10/03/2012 265 lbs because of the fluid retention Today 01/03/2013 3 months post op - 237 lbs. My weight loss has been a lot slower than most but I haven't been strict about water vitamins etc. Since the start of January I have been dry focused and committed about my water protein intake and my vitamins and I see a difference. Ill be back in the gym tomorrow for the first time after surgery (yes I know..it's been 3 months but a lot has happened in those 3 months). I have to keep reminding myself that it's a journey, not a race
  9. Here's a tag! Name the top 5 things you will not miss or will be glad to say "goodbye" to forever post op! Here's mine to start 1. The stares from people. Followed by the whispers. I can still hear you when I have literally just walked past u and u say to your friend "look how big/fat she is" 2. The sweating. I'm 25 years old...I am not anywhere near menopause but omg being overweight gives me a glimpse of what night sweats and hot flashes are gonna feel like. 3. The smell...I don't know how else to put it. But ever since I started gaining weight there's that smell that comes with being overweight...tmi perhaps but it's a foul odor from my folds..and especially under my breasts (im top heavy) 4. The disappointment at clothing stores. You know when you see something and you think of course that's gonna fit! But I'm gonna try it on anyways...and it's way too tight? Not gonna miss that! Or worse when ur too tired or annoyed to try it on at the store and u go home to try it and realize its too tight..go to return it and when the cashier says "was there something wrong with it?" and u say yeah it was too big/lose when the truth is it was the opposite but u were too ashamed to say. 5. Being out of breath after the smallest things - walking 10 stairs to the 2nd level of my house..are u kidding me? Then having to sit for 5 mins So I can catch my breath! Forget sports or running or just being able to run around with little kids..I can't even walk without feeling winded!!

    Super Saturday Weigh In

238.2! Yes I'm in the "230"'s my weight loss has Been slow but I will be the first to admit that so have I. I am terrible with my water and vitamins. Today was the first day in weeks that I had gotten in all my protein all my water and all my vitamins. Judge me if u want new sleevers but u will understand when u get back to ur normal routine that its tough to keep up. I was off of work for 6 weeks after surgery and it was so easy to keep track of everything then. Now that I'm back to work full time and then some I have to set up alarms on my phone to remind me to take vitamins and water etc. I will get there! I'm hoping by the end of march to be in wonderland. And then at goal of 150 in October which would mark my surgiversary!

    Bad Girl!

I feel ya sista! As a nurse I have been surrounded by cakes and donuts and goodies that my patients and their families give to the units. I have been stuffing my face and paying the price. I have totally let my demons in my brain take over. I will not deprive myself these holiday nor will I over indulge. Tomorrow is a new day and jan 1 is a new year. Hang in there!
  12. Yup I'm cold alllllll the time! I am only 40lbs down though so I haven't lost much insulation but I'm always freezing

    Clumsy

I spoke with both my doctor and my massage therapist about this. Our centre of gravity is changing. My question to my doc was well why didn't I feel like this when I gained the weight? Her answer? Because the weight gain was gradual. It took me a year to gain 40lbs and 2 months to lose it!

    Super Saturday Weigh In

243.8 today. Meaning a loss of .2lbs this week. I just got over my period though. Hoping by next sat it will be 240! Pray for me lol
  19. I used unsweetened almond milk at the beginning as well! One shake was 150 calories. And look into ready to drink ones. Muscle milk (my fave) light version is only 100 calories and I think 170 for the reg kind. Good luck:)

    Super Saturday Weigh In

Down to 244 this morning. Trying to find my previous Saturday weigh in...I have been stuck in the 240's in the last month
  21. I am 6 weeks post op and have been at the same weight for 4 weeks. 4 weeks!!!!! I had a very strict diet. Just started purée foods at week 5. It will come off. It just has to. Our bodies have been through a lot. Remember ur water, ur vitamins ur protein first and ur calories!
  22. Does anyone else have this issue? I am 6 weeks post op and just recently have been experiencing Sharp pain in my right upper back area when I'm eating. It's uncomfortable, not extremely painful but I can feel its there. Goes away after about 30 mins. Plz help!

    No Loss

Don't worry. I am almost 6 weeks out. Lost 15 lbs the first 2 weeks. Then nothing since then. I just figure that my body is in shock. It will come off eventually:)
