I'm Getting Sleeved Today!

Recommended Posts

I'm dealing with a flood of emotions but I'm remaining calm. I'm gonna miss my kids and husband but I told them this is my long overdue mini vacation lol. Keep me in your prayers plz :) I will try to update you all on how I'm feeling after the surgery but I'm expecting for it to be a fairly easy recovery. Have a good day everyone.

Good Luck! You are going to do great.

minkywinks_esposa: some time back you mentioned you were getting the single incision. Was your doctor able to stick to that plan? How are you feeling?

I was sleeved on the 2nd and I was able to come home yesterday. I was nervous going into surgery but everyone helped calm my nerves. I remember waking up from surgery in the ICU thinking WTF did I just do. I was in a lot of pain right after surgery because they didn't give me any pain meds before they woke me up. I just remember groaning loudly and coughing. I also puked a lot after surgery. I probably puked about 10+ times and I was so worried about the staple line ripping open. Drinking the barium was awful and made me barf about 3 times. They gave me lots of anti-nausea meds but nothing was working. I stopped taking morphine the 2nd day because it would make me puke and itch. Gosh it made me itch so much and then they would have to give me benadryl to combat the itching. I definitely experienced the regret phase (buyers remorse) soon after the procedure and thankkfully I knew enough about this phase and that it's totally normal. I'm feeling better as the days go on but those early days out were not fun at all.

Yup my surgeon did the single incision through my belly button and I can't even tell where he cut me. Most of the nurses couldn't even find the incision. The thing that caused me the most pain was the gas and vomiting. It was horrible but thankfully 4 days post op I'm not in any discomfort.

Glad your recovering okay. I'm glad to know about the buyer's remorse since I have a case of the nerves now and I don't even have a surgery date yet.

Today is my 4th day post op and I feel amazing. My energy is back and I'm feeling back to normal and so happy that I have the sleeve. I've sat on the floor and played with my 12 month old, I'm sleeping better. I'm glad the fog has lifted and now I feel like I made the best decision of my life :) When I had the buyers remorse I knew it was normal because a lot of people posted about it but to all those people who are pre-op just know that it does pass and it gets better. Good Luck to all those who will be having surgery in the future :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
