I Only Have To Fast 24 Hours

Recommended Posts

I am having my surgery in November in Nashville at Vanderbilt. I only have to fast 24 hours before surgery. Has anyone else fasted this way before their surgery?

Yes, I was on Clear Liquids only the day before my surgery... It went just fine :)

I didn't have to fast before surgery. I also didn't do a pre op diet.

Not because of that.

But yes, I bled from the incision at the top of my stomach where my Lap Band had caused some damage that required a follow up surgery and transfusions. I'm fine now, and very happy to have made the revision.

I was right at 30% BMI before surgery, so maybe that was why I didn't have to to the pre op. I don't know.

I did not have any pre op requirements except nothing after midnight the night before surgery. I was 432 the morning of surgery so i completely expected to be on a liquid diet as well prior to surgery. My surgery went ok but the Dr did tell my husband that my liver was enlarged but they didn't have any issues because he could find all my landmarks.

I did not have a pre-op diet either just nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before surgery. My doc said everything went great. I'm 7days post-op and I actually feel good today... I have 1 more day off and I will be back at work. I have been on nothing but clear liquids... it has been challenging only because I have a husband and 3 kids who eat all the things I love, but I want to succeed at this, so I just find something to do when I start thinking of food. And as of today I'm down 18 lbs ... which has made this week well worth it! Good Luck to you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
