Vitacraves And Other Gummy Vitamins

Recommended Posts

Saw on the label of the vitacraves that 2 is a serving ... Since we're suppose to have 2 Multi Vitamins a day does that mean to take 4 of the gummies a day? My nutritionist has me terrified about Vitamin deficiency :( soo how many are the rest of you taking?

I had trouble getting the Bariatric Vitamins down. I don't know what the deal was but I could not tolerate them. You would need to take 4 a day.

Here is what I take:

Morning: 2 Gummy vitamins; 1 sublingual B-12; 1 dissolvable Biotin tablet; 1 chewy Vitamin D with Calcium

Before Dinner: 2 gummy vitamins; 1 dissolvable Biotin tablet; 1 chewy Vitamin D with calcium

I am beginning my 6th week post op and this seems to be working for me. I hope that helps some!

I am the same way with the Bariatric Advantage chewable Vitamins and am out about 3 months. This issue has been bothering me since about 3 weeks post op.

Sometimes they make me absolutely want to throw up. I have noticed they are easier to take if after Breakfast and before any other Vitamins. I also take c, d, Omega3, calcium chews, B12 and b50. If i take too many of these together with the Multivitamin it is very easy to get sick and start gagging with dry heaves.

B12 and calcium chews are mostly ok if taken in isolation, an hour after Multivitamin. There must be too much of something that the sleeve does not like. It is a little frustrating because it is better for me to take them all at once. I have also tried to take something instead of Multivitamins like green vibrance.

Any advice?

I just threw away the Bariatric Advantage Vitamins - horrible! I bought Centrum chewables. I like those vs many others since they also contain essential minerals. Many multi-vitamins (including most "gummies") don't have any minerals. The Centrum aren't too bad.

Yup, these chewable tablets were tossed the moment I got the Celebrate multivitamin capsules. Gummy Multivitamins are probably ok, but I am unable to find a sugar free version. I don't really feel like adding more calories.

My surgeon & NUT told me no gummies, for various reasons but the main one being that they are inferior. They recommended anything chewable/dissolvable, including flintstones chewables (just have to double the dose).

I know I've seen the Gummy Vitamins at walmart/target, our drug store, GNC & just about anywhere else that has Vitamins.< /p>

Thanks for the tip on the bariatric advantage! Guess I won't waste my money on those. :)

My surgeon/NUT has said to me, re: vitamins/pills...

Only ones that are chewable &/or fully dissolvable in a glass of Water within 1/2 hr.

Also, that gummies are not as complete as say a Centrum complete chewable (which I'd have to take 2 instead of 1), & that they do not fully dissolve in the sleeve/pouch (& most ppl actually do not fully chew them before accidentally swallowing them) so the nutrients are not released. Also, there is a potential blockage risk, similar to swallowing chewing gum. There is also the thought that they are mostly sugar, & could potentially become a candy substitute for someone who is not coping well...&/or trigger food for someone with sugar sensitivity/"addiction". (I say "addiction" in quotes bc it's not generally medically accepted but those of us who battle it, know it's power)

I was told we could have either chewables or capsules. I found everything I needed at a Vitamin Shoppe, Iron, Calcium, multiple Vitamins, Biotin in capsule form. I knew I wouldn't be able to tolerate chewables.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
