A Whole Size Of Pizza

Recommended Posts

Hi

I known its early to be thinking about food. I only had my surgery on September 17th. I ended up doing 3 weeks of Protein shakes prior to surgery. Now its Clear liquids for 2 weeks followed by 4 weeks of Protein Shakes before starting any food whatsoever.

Surgery went great. No major problems so far with recovery knock on wood. I am home seeing commercials that involve amazing looking food.

My favorite is pizza. Do you think I will ever be able to have just one whole slice of cheese pizza again?

Hi, I'm 14 months post op and for me it depends on the type of pizza. The only one I can eat a slice of is Dominos thin and crispy crust. I get the cali chicken, bacon ranch and can eat a slice and maybe a tiny corner piece cause the crust is like a cracker almost. Other pizzas I just take the toppings off and eat what I can of them, which usually isn't even a whole slice worth.

Well this weekend was hard for me. I had my surgery on the 11th. My husband and his buddies ordered pizza yesterday so I just stayed out of the area where they were. Also, we went to the movies today and both my son and husband had a big soda and popcorn. I know I made this decision for me and I keep making myself say that. I dont want them to feel weird about eating around me, but I guess I do wish maybe they would, although that isnt fair.

I think we will eventually be able to have a few bites of our favorite things, but I know for sure that if I had not had this surgery, that today I would have had pizza, popcorn and pink berry yogurt this weekend, so I guess my tool is helping me do what I should do! Hopefully by the time I can take a few bites, maybe it wont be quite so tempting.

I am 9 months out and can eat 1 slice of Papa Johns or pizza Hut thin crust. Can only get in a few bites of regular pizza.

I knw it can be tough watching others eat all the stuff you can't. My kids are older so I dont hv to worry abt fixing a family meal that has to be tough. Since its just us, for several weeks my husband ate before he came home for work. I never asked him to it was something he suggested & tht did help. Now I tell him dont worry abt it. He has to eat & you're right "you made the decision." Thats what I hv to tell myself too. It will get easier at least it has for me. I ws sleeved July 16th & it honestly doesnt bother me what he eats now.

Susie, I think you're right on point. This is a tool to help us do what we should be doing all along: making better choices.

I haven't had my surgery yet, but pizza is one of my favorites... like, weekly. Too many times in the past I've told myself I'd have "just a slice" which invariably turned into 3 or 4 in one sitting.... plus another one or two the next day. I may be just telling myself this, but I kinda like that I won't be able to do that anymore. I haven't had any pizza in over a month now (but I do miss it...)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
