My surgeon told me it "feel weird - kind of like a snake swimming around in your belly" but that it doesn't hurt and only lasts a few seconds.

I did feel that but also it took my breath away (prob wen it went by my lungs) and gave me a wave of nausea (prob wen it by my stomach). It was quick and odd but def noticeable!

It is definitely a very weird feeling, lasts one a few seconds. I agree with the other post, it does feel like a snake moving around inside.

I have not been sleeved until next week, but I did have an open cholecystectomy with 3 drains. I fainted when they pulled out the JP drain. It didn't hurt, but something about the sensation triggered a vasovagal reaction (swooning). How embarrassing! They called 911 (i was in the doctors office)

Just Do It!!!

As long as it doesn't hurt I should be ok! I just don't like pain lol

I'm still pre-op, but when I was a teenager, I had a drain tube removed after an appendectomy and I remember saying that it felt like swallowing a piece of spaghetti and pulling it back up. Gross, but not painful.

Not really sure if it was painful... I almost passed out, it made me very nauseated, I started shaking, and cried for a second. And I consider myself to be pretty tough. But I had not been prepared for it at all. Within a minute or two I was better. But I had to lay there and compose myself first.

I had my drain removed on the 18th. It had been in for 2 wks. The few stitches that were holding it in place stung for a second when they were removing them but I felt nothing when the tube itself was being removed.

I did not feel a thing when they pulled mine out. I had mine in for a week and was sooo nervous about getting it out. The nurse said do you want to squeeze me arm?? I said yes and she took it out and I felt nothing.

Mine came out on day two. It was uncomfortable. It felt weird, I don't know if snakes is the right word for me but I felt it coming across my body. It was pressure... It wasn't excruciating pain, but it was unlike anything I've ever felt.

Depends on your pain threshold! Keep a positive outlook. Good luck to ya!

Mine hurt so bad when it was in that I felt the removal had got to be 100+ times better. Nurse told me to take a deep breath and hold as long as i could...removal lasted less than a minute. Did feel like something crawling across my belly but.....oh, what a relief! Hallelujah!!! This was a huge source of a lot of my pain and why I had to stay several extra days in the hospital!

I had surgery on the 19th and they pulled the drain out two days later. It does sting and give you a little jolt but it is momentary and will pass. But trust me your gonna be glad they pulled it out cause that was the main source of my pain. Take some deep breaths and close your eyes and lay back and relax. You don't wanna be tense. I wish I could hold your hand and help you but know your in my prayers.

Had mine removed on day two. I was SO happy! It didn't hurt, but my hubby laughed at the weird moan/yip that escaped from me. Kinda like having an alien birth.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
