Does Anyone Not Like Their New Look Once Loosing Their Weight?

Recommended Posts

I have a few months until my surgery and my biggest fear is I won't like the way I look after loosing my weight. I think I've been overweight for so long I'm so used to looking the way I do that I'm scared to loose weight and not look like myself. Am I crazy?

Nope you aren't. I still have issues seeing me as this size. (I've lost 99 lbs in 6 months, well 6 months and a couple of weeks.) It's WEIRD to me still. But don't like it? IDK on that. Just adjustments in perception really. I can do so much more.... what's not to like about that?

Best of luck, always to you! xx

I haven't had surgery yet but I know I won't have too hard a time getting used to being thinner. As it is now, sometimes I don't recognize myself in pictures. I think to myself.."oh wow! Is that really how big I am?" :( On a day to day basis when I look in the mirror I just see "me", not some huge person..I'm hoping it will be the same once I've lost half my weight!

I dont like the way my credit card statements look (too much shopping) but I LOOOOVE the way I look!

:)

I never share pics that i am in with friends cause im always the fattest and so embarrassed.....

I was with some friends in Vegas over labor day and 6 out of 8 of them are skinny and mini.... With just me and another girl (who is probably 260/5'6" and who kinda looks like me anyways) being the larger ones.... I was looking at the pictures and kept mistaking myself for the larger friend!!!!

My BF had to keep reminding me it wasn't me and you know what.... I kinda looked normal and kinda HOT!

I feel the same. I am actually scared to be thin. I have been overweight for 30 plus years'. I just want to be high school weight

And in high school I was considered to be over weight then. It's going to be a great experience. And it's for my health!!!

I'm a little worried about it. I've been obese for 30 yrs too. I have absolutely no idea what I will look like. I'm also worried about sagging skin and wrinkles. But this is for my health, I have too many comorbidities not to do this. So saggy skin or not, hopefully I'll be healthier & happier.

I've been sleeved for 5 months and 3 weeks... I am down 73.4 pounds... and I *LOVE* the new me!

I went from a size 22 to a size 14 for now ... from a size XXL on top to a size MEDIUM!

It's awesome to know your collar bones are actually real... and your ankles don't have to have a "kan" in front of it (kankle.... ;)

It does get some getting used too... but it's amazing! <3

I have been sleeved for almost 3 weeks and I love it. People respect me more and I get attention from strangers. No more quick stares at the ground. Oh how that bugged me and tore down my confidence. I felt with the problem in public for most of my adult life. Now I am feeling like a stud in public. I can hear the music " too sexy for my...." I do realize I look in the mirror more now and like what I see.

Oops, I mean to say almost 3 months not 3 weeks. Every part of me is tightening up. I hardly have a stomach any longer and other parts of my body are now in normal range of appearances. 90 lbs down...

This is hard for me- yes I have many hang ups now about the way I look. My surgery was May 15- I lost 4 whopping lbs before surgery- 254- 250- and now today, only 3 months and a week, I have lost 87lbs. I love that the weight is gone- I'm not so happy about losing my wonderfull (yes full) breasts, I don't like the skin and hangy parts on my thighs and my upper arms. :( the only thing I can do is work out harder, and put all my pennies in that piggy bank for my surgery.

I'm 167 this week, and my first goal is 150, then 120. My body looks great in clothes....... Without----- yeah not so much. I find myself being way more critical of my body now that I'm thinner. Weird turn around for sure not what I expected at all.

Bless each of us on our journey <3

I love the way I look! I still can't see myself as skinny. I probably never will. But I am wearing a size 6...at my height that is pretty thin. I weigh 160. Which again at my height is thin. I watch TV and see women who are thin and think to myself...I don't feel like them. I think I still carry some shame and insecurity, but that is my issue... People treat me normal now so I am not afraid, but I am not sure I will ever be normal. Maybe if my hair grows back...

Hey there,

I am 5'8 and 230 . Getting sleeved on Tuesday 10/30 in Mexico-- self pay. I am concerned I wont ever be 'normal' as well and dont want to get too skinny either. How long does it take to get to "normal"? How much hair have you lost? Any Vitamins, etc to take to avoid the hairloss?

BTW-- I'm in DC too :).

You are going to Mexico??? And you are in DC good for you! At your weight you are going to be super skinny! What day do you leave? Do you live in DC or outside?

I had so much hair and have lost so much. It still isn't growing back, but I don't think that is the norm. I hate the thinness, but whatever...I am skinny!!! Let me know if you need anything! Take it easy!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
