Surgery Sept 21St

Recommended Posts

And ALREADY nervous. I don't have much support. Most family members don't understand, mostly the men. The females get it, though nervous too, but many are busy with children or out of state. Will keep praying. I have to remind myself that He gives the support I need.

Being on preop diet is making me a little emotional too. Being hungry has impacted my mood, which was unexpected.

Anyone have any tips for reducing anxiety?

The best advice I have is stay positive!! Mind/body healing makes a huge difference!!!

This the such a great journey you are starting. Think of what your life will be like when you shed the extra pounds. I am only a little over a week out and feeling great. So excited for what is to come!

Emotions definately play a part in this. Try to keep yourself busy and not dwell on things. This forum is a great place for support and so much information!

If you are feeling down just go look at some of the before/after pics!! What great incentive :)

Good luck to you!!

The best advice I can give you is be patient with yourself. I was very emotional after the surgery and would cry about stupid things. It seemed as though I had made a mistake, but now 7 months later I am SUPER happy with how I have progressed and how my new normal has become. Each day gets bettter, and then you start to see results! I can still eat all the foods I did before surgery, just in much smaller amounts. You can do this!

Thank you both for responding. I truly appreciate it and the things you both said have brought me comfort. Not only now, but I will look back on them and read them when I need reminding. Thanks so much. :)

Wow, its great to see another person on the 21st! Seems most aren't having surgery on that day. I hear ya about preop diet. It has been hard for me the whole time. I feel I am constantly hungry. Have you been nervous?

It's funny how I have complained that no one was having surgery on the same day as me and my dr changed my surgery date! I'm now 9/19.

Oops, just saw your post about changing from the 21st. How exciting!! Are you ready for a few days earlier?? I think its great, less time to keep busy prior to surgery. I would love a few days shaved off the wait!! Congrats!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
