October 2006 Bandsters!

Calling all October bandsters...

I just wanted to start a thread where everyone can post their surgery dates and we can compare notes.

I am scheduled for 10/18. I have ALL my pre-op stuff done as of last week. I start Protein shake diet on 10/4. :)

How is everyone else doing getting their pre-op stuff scheduled?

Can y'all believe that I have not weighed since the pre-op diet? I am dying to know how much I have lost!!!! I don't even own a scale...this is a first, I actually want to buy one!

I can't sleep tonight...I'm feeling anxious. But I'm SO exited! Good luck to everyone tomorrow!!

Hi All!

How is everyone? The boards are kind of quiet, is there a lot of gas going around? Hang in there, it does get better. My heating pad was tremendously helpful for that for me. And so was walking around.

I am so excited! I have two more pounds to lose and then I will have less than 100 pounds total to lose! Which is kind of sad when you think about it, but I am thrilled nonetheless.

Take care everybody,

Jess

I was banded 10/19 and I am finally feeling more comfortable. Last night was the first night I slept in my BED! Before that I was to sore and was not able to get out of bed with out a lot of discomfort. I was sleeping in the den on a recliner. As far as the eating is going I'm doing OK on liquids. The medifast drinks fill me up. I have not had any real hunger yet. I have one more week of liquids. I am now down about 13 pounds!!! I feel good that I had the courage to do something like this for me. I thank all of the Lap members who share their thoughts and experiences.

I hope everyone has a sucessful week with surgerys and recoverings. I was banded on the 17th and feeling more like myself everyday. My Drs. said lap band people can start mushies 1 week after surgery, the stomach takes 5 days to go down from the swelling.

My ??????? is, what does everyone like on the mushie stage. I can't think of a lot of things. I am starting to feel hungry. She said yougert and cottage cheese, Any other favorites? Mary

wow. yesterday was a hard day but i survived it!!!! only a couple of more days till mushie food i can't wait!!!:clap2:

I have a new favorite! Just ate it it and it was soooooooooooo good. I tasted like real food. Im sick of yogurt and jello and broth ugh! I just passed my 2 week mark as of yesterday. Was banded Oct. 10. So I went looking at the grocery store for mushy stuff, I swear I think I was there for 2 hours. Anyway I found Celentano(the brand)Eggplant Rollettes Yummo! The eggplant is really mushy, just dont eat the skin of the eggplant around the edges and its filled with seasoned ricotta and sauce over top. Really great. The only draw back is that the calories are a bit higher 350 but was worth having a full feeling after 2 weeks of liquids!! I ate the whole darn thang. I dont feel like I have any restriction so that will be a once in awhile treat. Another thing I read on hear was: Make a lasgna w/o the noodles. Just take ricotta moz. cheese and sauce and bake. i just really felt the need for a veg too. My other (to keep my sanity) treat is flan.

FLAN??? wow yummy I'm Cuban I think that our flan would be too sweet. we put condense milk, cream cheese, sugar, and milk :hungry:. I don't think that would be good for me although at day 10 I would take anything new.

Oh yeah, also I got this really neat gadget about a week ago which is an armband that tallys up the calories you burn throughout the day. It comes with an on-line progran that tracks calories in and calories out also they work with you if you want with excercise and diet plan. since im only 2 weeks post op Im following my own but they suggested for now to walk and try to take 10000 steps a day. it also reads how much you walk. When I get home from work I plug the armand into the computer and it reads exactly what Ive done so far. If I didnt burn enough I dont even sit down I head outdoors no matter how tired I am and go a walkn. Pre band I wouldnt have bothered. So basically to sum up in a nutshell You know exactly how much weight you are going to lose the next day. Ive lost 14.5 pounds with (no pre surgery diet) in 2 weeks. If anyone is interested its called body bugg and you can find it by going to myapex.com. Hope that helps in this battle of the buldge!

sounds tooooo good. I would suggest making a light flan with skim milk no ceam cheese. Ive baught the pre packed kind and used skm. milk and added 2 egg yolks for protien. Its very thin but still tastes better than broth! When we lose all of our weight Im coming over to your house for your kind of flan!

6 days out and doing great! Tolerating liquids and looking forward to mushies. I have not had any hunger so I am glad for that. I'm going to go to work tomorrow and Friday for a few hours each day. I'm getting a little stir crazy at home.

My incisions are doing well, had to put a butterfly stich on one. The glue is starting to wear off. I have 4 poke holes and one about 1 1/2 inches for the port just above my belly button. I've not had any problems sleeping on either side, my guess is because the port is not on the side.

I'm thankful for all of you that went before me in the month hearing about your progress, makes it easier to know what is coming and that we are not alone in this life changing journey.

I hope everyone still posts on this thread after October! I want to know how all of you are doing, because we are always all going to be on this ride together!

I agree Moon-goddess, we are all in this boat together. Its great to share something with people that so few really know anything about. I am soooo full of questions.

I started a thread asking for people who have been banded a while to let us know what a "normal" day of food is like for them. I am really curious what my meal life will be like once I settle into this band thing.

So many unknowns at this time!!!

Hello All,

Haven't posted in a couple of days.. Just wanted to update that I'm doing great.

I came home Monday about 3 hours after the procedure and felt fantastic. I went walking around the neighborhood, and all was well. Then it was time to go to bed... I couldn't find a comfortable position (I've never been able to sleep on my back). Yesterday I felt horrible. The gas had moved up to my shoulders and I had a hard time moving my neck without being in pain. I took some liquid tylenol, and it helped some.

Today, I feel much better. The glue is coming off of two of the incisions, but the hospital said not to worry unless the incisions start to come apart. Haven't been able to go outside to walk, because of the icky weather we are having. So, I am making laps around the house.

The incisions are very tender, and they pull when I stand or sit. Oh, and I had a coughing attack today. That was PAINFUL!!!

I havent lost any weight since I came home. And I am still feeling bloated. But I am so thrilled to be a member of bandland!!

I too hope we continue to update each other on this thread!

Thanks for sharing your experiences with me! You've all been inspirational.
