October 2006 Bandsters!

Calling all October bandsters...

I just wanted to start a thread where everyone can post their surgery dates and we can compare notes.

I am scheduled for 10/18. I have ALL my pre-op stuff done as of last week. I start Protein shake diet on 10/4. :)

How is everyone else doing getting their pre-op stuff scheduled?

I actually slept on my stomach last night (what a relief). I know that I could have several days ago, but wanted to take it easy. It was such a wonderful feeling. I woke up so refreshed. Today makes one week post op.

I had some pain in my chest that was toward the center, but under my right breast and it was preventing me to breath in deeply - mine turned out to be imflamation - rather than gas. I'm on an antibiotic now and I know that it will help. I've had imflamation in this area before several years ago.

I am just so thankful for my band. The Lord has really blessed me.

My surgery date is quickly approaching, 10/23, and met with my doctor yesterday. We watched the video and went over any questions. My dr. then told me I have a hiatal hernia that will have to be removed as well.

I was wondering if anyone else had this removed while being banded? If so, does it affect your recovery time, I forgot to ask that??

At least my heartburn should fade away with this being removed.:)

Bckeye- glad to be of assistance. I love that site. It is so much fun to "create yourself" My model looks alot like me. I made one for my husband to adn it looks JUST like him. Kinda scary.

Cheers to us looking like our virtual models!

Hi all. I had my surgery yesterday and today I fed great! Very little soreness and no pain meds needed, and I can do my regular activities - unbelievable. So far today I've drank my water, had chicken broth, a little applesauce, a protein shake & a couple of tablespoons of grits and I'm not hungry. Its amazing!

Wow I am already 2 weeks banded. Been thru a lot of "just figuring it out as you go". I noticed so many of us are the same yet different. Very interesting. I want to thank all of you for your encouragement and advice. Honestly, it is very helpful as I am about 3 hours from my Dr office on a farm and no one here has ever heard of band. So THANKS... I really wish all of you a safe day and recovery. We Octobers will look and feel fabulous!!!! I BELIEVE :) , Jules

Thanksa lot Houston girl. That really comforted me to know that this will pass. :0)

Question, what do you guy think about mixingup som Lasagna without the noodles and turning it into a thin soup like mixture. You think I can have this with no problems. My band has been on since Monday and I've been able to tolerate chicken cream soups like?

Your thoughts

Well I guess I can quit piggybacking on the October bandster thread because my November 1 surgery has been postponed.

Good luck to all those being banded in the next few weeks!

KatyLady sounds like your doing awesome.. Great job just go slow.

I'm one week banded today lost 30 some pounds so far WOOHOOO!!!

Dancing, My hubby and I were so hungry for something with spice so we made chili. Put it in the food processor and blended. We kept adding tomotoe juice till it was soupy and it tasted so good. I was told as long as it would be a consistency that would go through a straw it would be alright. Its amazing how only 1/2 cup of our new chili soup creation killed our cravings for something spicy. And with the ground beef and beans we got extra protein and fiber. Yay!

Keep up the good work everyone.

Just an update for me: I took the camera pill yesterday and it was pretty painless. Weird, but painless. I should know the results by Tuesday. Please think positive thoughts for me that I can still have surgery on Thursday!!

Yep, fingers and toes crossed for ya. Ok, I'll do a chub hoola just for you. There...happy! Michelle

AZA, we will miss ya, good luck with your health issues. You're always welcome in OCT bandsters!!

In 4 days time I shall be under the surgeons knife!

Heading down to my sisters for the weekend before heading to Belgium had to put my little munchkin somewhere he wouldn't get into too much trouble and get spoilt rotten if I know my sister!

So next time I shall be treading these boards is probably going to be the end of next week, if all goes well!

Regards

Suzannex

Hi everyone

I was banded yesteday at 9:30, got home today around 10.00. All went very smooth. Definately soreness where the incisions are but otherwise doing great. I didn't even use the morphine drip they gave me.

Weirdest feeling, I just opened a protein shake and after a few sips felt very strange, I just realized. I;M FULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the well wishes. I hope my band friends are all doing well and good luck to those going next. Good luck, take care

Good luck Suzzane & good job threebeauties on recognizing when your full. I'm still trying to figure this out at times.
