My New Life Will Start September 21St!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I'm not sure I'm doing this right, but here goes. I'm scheduled to have my sleeve on September 21st, the day after my 56th birthday! I'm a little anxious, and occasionally think about everything that COULD go wrong, but I know that this is a new beginning for me. I have struggled all my life with my weight, and have been at least 100 pounds over weight for the last 25 years. I have never had any kind of anesthesia, even when I got my wisdom teeth removed, so I'm a little apprehensive about the whole surgery thing. My surgeon told me I would stay overnight in the hospital and get to go home the day after. So.....how was everyone's recovery post surgery?

I am post-op 3 days and was so thankful to stay an extra night in the hospital. All I can say is dont rush it. Everyone is different and I apparently had a rough time in recovery...had no idea until I was coherent the next day!

You will be just fine! Good luck!!! Consider thisan incredible birthday present and next year when you are celebrating you will be celebrating with your new self!

Anesthesia is gooooood. Ask for a little versed prior to surgery to calm any nerves. Wonderful drug I tell you. Just sayin....

Hi I'm new here, and have just started the process (met surgeon, got insurance stuff started). I am really worried about the anesthesia. The last time I had surgery I wouldn't wake up the surgeon came out and asked my husband if I always took this long to wake up. I was the first patient in and the last patient out. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
