Question About "i Don't Feel Full" Statements

I have noticed quite a few post op folks talking about eating and "not feeling full." Does this mean you still "feel hungry" or are you just not feeling that sensation you are use to to know when to stop? My surgeon told me to measure my food in either 1/4 or 1/2 cup servings (i need to look) and eat that so many times a day. With all the Water he has me drinking I don't expect to feel the ravenous hunger I would feel now, but just curious about the "full" feeling. I am hoping to train myself to eat based on measurements and not the feeling anymore. That "full" feeling pre op for me equates to a giant chipotle burrito, chips and guac. No bueno...

I agree with you totally. I don't WANT that "full" feeling to be like it was before. I want to stop before i get to that point... I am 6 days out and i am doing probably about 1/3 cup at a time and plan to continue it. seem s like if i do 1/2 cup its too much right now. It depends on how quickly i take in the liquid....

I was told to never again eat till full. I realize it happens sometimes, but the point is to try to stop eating before that. Even now I sometimes surprise myself at the amount of food I can eat and not feel terribly full. But other days I feel it sooner.

Eating too fast makes it harder to feel full until its too late. I know I eat too fast and always have. I also suspect that a large percentage of overweight people just aren't as attuned to the feeling of being "satisfied" as those naturally skinny people who never think about what they eat, but are skinny anyway. Eating (and overeating) can be a learned behavior just like walking and talking.

That's why measuring food is so important for us. It takes the guess work out of the equation. Eating from an open container, like a bag of chips, is so dangerous because it's extremely hard to know how much you've eaten unless you're counting chips. I know I've eaten like this many times in my life and the only thing that stopped me was I got to the bottom of the bag.

Well, I like measuring, but I eat out a lot and I have to guess at measurements. So I eat just to where i feel my stomach is full and I work at slowing down. I am such a fast eater at times and it's hard to recognize my full feeling. Yesturday got my favorate blackened salmon salad and I ate a bit, got up, went to the bathroom and came back to my hubby eating my salad..... I didn't mind, I took a few more bites and made a conscious effort to eat the veggies instead of just Protein. later in the evening I was hungry and convinced my weak mind to have a mini cup of ice cream :(, but was still hungry and ended up eating some protein. The veggies don't fill me up for too long and I end up eating more. :( This is a lesson well learned, protein will always be first. :)

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
