I Understand you shouldn't drink it but what if youre out with the girls and you want a drink? I understand that there is extra calories involved that you shouldnt have with your diet. PS I hate wine! I am a former beer drinker :(

How far post op are you? With beer you have to be wary of carbonation, especially early postop. I've also heard people say that their alcohol resistance was much lower after surgery, so a small amount may have a big effect.

Water is boring and I was asking seriously so if you have nothing to add then don't. I am a little over 3 weeks post op. and I am having my annual party at my tiki bar next week.

I feel you Skyjack1, I enjoy drinking nights with my girls also. Lucky for me I love wine so no carbonation issues to deal with, but I am curious to find out if I will become a member of the " One and Done" club with a lower tolerance. Trial and error I guess.

I've had a wine, vodka and clamato, vodka and lemonade, rye and water...not all at once on different occassions! It just doesn't seem the same as before I never actually ended up finishing any of them but I felt like I was taking part. I did not feel the fast dizzy effects that some speak of but I'm sure it's different for everyone. My docs plan says I can have a drink after 30 days just with all the calorie warnings ect that everyone has heard. I'm lucky lately if I get 600 cal in daily anyway so I counted the cocktail in my calories for the day. My only other worry was that when I drank in the past I would lose my food portion control...muchies and I would'nt want to unwittingly put myself in that position right now. But so far I haven't felt like more than one drink anyway.

I noticed I get tipsy after 1/2 a glass of wine now, however it wears off just as fast. I am almost 6 weeks post op and had my first drink at 4 weeks out. No judgement please! I don't think 1 drink will hurt.

If I were you I would treat yourself to a pins colada or something fun. My moto is everything is ok in moderation. :-)

Well beer is as always my drink of choice. I am afraid I will stretch the sleeve though. Is that forever? I had a glass of wine and a vodka drink last night and they just dont do it for me (no judgement please)

Do you like mixed drinks? Like a Tequila sunrise, or Vodka cranberry, Bloody Mary, Margarita? I would be worried about stretching your sleeve with anything carbonated. I am missing SF Red Bull like crazy! What if you let the beer go a little flat first? Would that just make it gross to drink I imagine?

So is that carbonation thing forever?

From what I heard, yes :/ Carbonation will permanetly stretch your sleeve. I know people who have had surgery and can ttotally tolerate soda and beer but its just a bummer to stretch the sleeve after going through the surgery. I hope you find an alternative!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
