I went to Open House at my kids' high school tonight. The last several years I went, I had to squeeze myself into the desks with the attached chairs. It was always so uncomfortable and embarrasing. It really made me feel bad for the teenagers who are overweight and would have to sit in those all day long. Tonight, without thinking about it (since it only happens once a year) I comfortably slid into one of those desks! It did not dawn on me right away, but suddenly I realized that I fit!! Not only did I fit, but I had plenty of room to turn, or slouch or cross my legs! Woo hoo! :D

Having been 350 pounds when I graduated from high school, I can tell you it really friggen sucks having to try and squeeze into those rotten desks and EVERYONE notices that you don't fit.

I can imagine and I am sorry for the pain it must have caused you. It's hard enough to be a teenager, but to have to suffer that discomfort and humiliation all day is unfair. This is a realtively new school. I realize it is probably neater to have a chair attached to the desk, but in a country where childhood obesity is at it's height, schools and society are always preaching political correctness, tolerance and acceptance that someone might have thought of this! It's ridiculous really.

Yes. I have only seen these desks on television and movies. We don't have them in our schools here. I can't even see how they would be ergonomic? They wouldn't pass safety standards where I live.

Congrats on your NSV!

I am a teacher, and we often have meetings in our classrooms. For years I have prayed for there to be an "unattached" chair somewhere in the room! Most of the time, that prayer bounced off the ceiling, and I had to painfully stuff my big self in the chairs. Had surgery in March, and this year when school started I just slid in............

It gets more wonderful each day!!!

As a teacher, I keep a few "unattached" chairs in case I need them for visitors (or even students from time to time).

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
