How long was your belly big postop?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I was banded on Monday and I still look/feel really gassy..how long until this all goes away? My belly looks much bigger than it actually is, especially up towards the top. I tried to wear jeans today instead of sweats and it was super uncomfortable. What was it like for you? Thanks

Sammy,

as far as I remember my belly looked bigger for a week or two.The gas was there for not more than week.I was using Syrup Sabsimplex (medicine for kids) and it helped a lot.

The gas lasted longer for me but the xxtra stength gas x, chewable of course, really helped. I was swollen for at least 2 weeks. Jeans, that's wishful thinking. LOL

I really don't remember my tummy being swollen at all. I do remember the gas though...oh how I remember the gas. :embarassed: It lasted for close to 3 weeks for me!

I didn't notice any change in my belly. I didn't have gas pains or discomfort either, so maybe that's why... but I know I had gas in me because the tape they put over my stitches started bubbling up off my skin as the gas tried to escape.

I was having horriable gas pains, and had gone through 2 boxes of GasX with no luck. I went to the health food store and they gave me a bottle of (i hope I am selling it right) Acidoldolyfs Probiotic. I took 2 tbs the evening I purchased it and 2 more the next morning and all of my gas was gone. It was the best purchase I have ever made and was blue berry flavored to boot!:clap2:

I looked an additional five months pregnant after surgery for 2 weeks. It has just went down in the last two days.

Mine took about 3 weeks to go back to normal. I couldn't button my pants for 2 weeks! Not fun, but it does go away.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
