So I don't notice the difference most of the time until I put on clothes that no longer fit. However when I look in the mirror I still look at myself and see the fat girl. I am a nurse and have had to finally go get new scrubs because the old ones were falling off me. When I did this I thought I only went down one size and no I went down two. I am 4 months and a week post op. i have lost 72 pounds and so close to being in the 100 mark. I have struggled at times with eating. I have not had any trouble eating anything. Nothing makes me sick to my stomach or har the runs. Sometimes I wonder of this is all really true and if they really did the surgery. And then I take the one bite to many and it hurts. At that point I know it is really sleeved. I dance hula and have fr about a year. I danced it at 281 pounds and am still doing it now at 210. We had a big performance this past weekend and I really noticed for the first time I am skinner. I have to day this is definitely a journey I thought I was ready for but realized that it has so many challenges that I wasn't expecting. Or example gettin my Water In when I'm working out or dancing and am completely thirsty and water is not helping it. So some things I have learned.

• don't overeat at any time it hurts real bad

• work out and it helps with the skin mine is going in not fast but it is.

• don't do it the wrong way. Follow your surgeons plans and diet they have to for a reason. I have a friend that did the sleeve and then took diet pills to loose it faster and didn't work out. But followed the diet and lost 150 pounds in 10 month but has a ton of excess skin.

• no matter what you see the people around you notice even if they don't say anything.

• the best feeling is know that this saved the rest of your life.

• when you put on clothes 2 sizes smaller you will feel amazing. Especially when you haven't been that size in years.

I hope this helps some one. I read a lot of post on here and don't respond a lot but I have gotten a lot of positive feelings form them. And know that I have done the right thing and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I'm nearly where you are...4 months and 3 weeks out. I've lost 65 pounds, and fail to see any difference except my face is a little less fat and my bras are too big. My clothes are now 1-2 sizes smaller, but like you I can't for the life of me figure out what's different, even though I take my measurements every 20 pounds and have seen a huge loss. My problem areas are my thighs and lower stomach, and they are only a size down, and are shrinking at a far slower rate. And it doesn't help that I hit a stall a couple of weeks ago. When I see my family every couple of months I get amazement and compliments, though. I keep a positive attitude and tell myself that I'm doing well (and when I need an extra boost I remember that my stomach doesn't touch my steering wheel anymore, LOL).

Fantastic! I see a BIG difference! But the biggest change I see is the HUGE smile on your face now. You look like you're having a great time and happy. Isn't that why we're doing this? We want to enjoy our lives; be empowered to do whatever we want to do, and not be held back. We want access to our dreams.....and now you do, because you took control of your life and future!

Keep up the great work!

If you can't see it today, you will one day. Work towards the day that your packaging matches the gift within. You're beautiful and don't let anyone, including yourself, tell you any dang different!! LOL

Thank you all for the wonderful comments. I agree that I see my face is smaller and my husband says my breast are smaller. But I still don't see it. I think I am just having one of those weeks were I'm pretty down. Nothing seems to fit me. My closet is empty. food nothing sounds good to eat. Maybe its my new way of deali g with stress. But I normally feel amazing and love the new me. Jut can't wait for the end of my journey. But I really appreciate all the great comments.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
