I think Laura may have meant her size is an Australian size 6' date=' not an arrogant foreigner! Lol. At least that is what I took it as in my response.....[/quote']

What is an australian size 6?

What is an australian size 6?

An American size 0

Sorry for confusion! I am from Australia. Was talking about sizing system not her country of birth. Will have to remember to word it better in future ;)

Hey Laura, have you been over to the Attention! Australian Sleevers thread? Heaps of local support and advise :-)

I once had a transsexual hair stylist tell me, "You have such a pretty face! But how about if you just don't eat for a while?". I sincerely found it amusing lol, but overtime, similar comments just build up and its hard to just ignore them.

When I was doing the pre-op liquid diet I had dropped a lot of weight. My boss begged me to reconsider the surgery because after all, I looked like I lost a bunch of weight and it is evidence that I can lose weight if I try. I had to remind him that I hadn't had a morsel of food in 2 weeks and that nobody can live like that!

About a month after I had my 3rd child, my neighbor asked me how much longer until I had the baby. I had my baby in my arms when the jerk asked me! He apologized and thought it may have been my sisters baby.

About 20 years ago, my neighbors 3 year old son asked me why I was so fat? I was mortified when his Mother didn't say anything to him for saying it. I was about 180 at the time. I didn't fault the child for saying it, but the Mother should have told him that wasn't very polite.

That doesn't, however, change my opinion.

I can't wait for my mother to stop saying " you just hab to hab a self control" she says it just like that too she's a Crazy Asian Lady lol.... Really though it is especially annoying because my mom is one of those people who eats tons knows nothing about dieting and weighs 108 pounds soaking wet.... I obviously inherited my metabolism from my father.

Hahah, so you know how blunt pilipinos are lol. We're supposed to be these short, compact little people, but I grew up in the US. I'm full fledged Filipino. Glad to meet someone else from close to home :)!

Yes I understand the bluntness lol. I tried explaining to my husband (caucasian) that the bluntness is part of the culture and not her being a "horrible mother". He didnt understand. My mom is a little better now bc she realizes she is hurting her children's feelings but she is definitely for the surgery. She is actually willing to take time off work to take care of my family for when I have my sleeve done... And you know Filipinos don't miss work for anything lol.

I was told to just stop eating by my t-girl friend. I thought for sure she would understand not being comfortable in my body and be supportive of me. Crazy. Stranger comments I can handle. But when it comes from a friend whom I have stood up for, it stings a bit.

I have a frenemy that always talks about my pretty face. I want to slap her.

How about, "Have you had the surgery yet?" after you've had the surgery.
