Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Recommended Posts

So now that I've lost 120lbs, (and still have 80 more to go!), I've noticed a huge thing. Before, where ever I went, I used to always see people's eyes gravitating to my stomach. That's where I've always carried most of my weight. This made me so self conscious. It was so obvious the way people would look. I mean I was 400lbs. How could they NOT look?

Now, I've noticed it's stopped? When I go to a store, nobody looks at me like OMG LOOK HOW FAT SHE IS! What an amazing feeling. I'm starting to blend in now. While I am still fat, I'm NOT the fattest person in the place now. I always was. :( There's plenty of people out there that are more my size now. I can't believe where I am at right now. We went out to dinner last night for my father in law's birthday, and I wanted to be in EVERY picture! Usually I'm the one taking the pictures because I was so ashamed and DIDN'T want to be in any!!! My mother in law was so happy for me, and was loving that I was so confident and it showed. I'm so thankful for my family, my husband's family, and my friends. I could not ask for a more supportive bunch of people! They are so motivational. I need that. The more compliments I get from everyone, the more it makes me not want that potato chip!!! I can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xoxo

This is amazing. I know exactly how you felt. I hate going to company meetings and always being the biggest person in the room.

Congrats to you.

Great job! It's definitely strange to not be the biggest person around. Now I'm usually not even in the top three biggest people around. Yippee!! :)

Keep rocking that sleeve! You'll be at goal in no time. :)

now want to be in EVERY picture

JDHenin

I always "ran away" when family pictures, or any pictures were being taken. Thats why i don't have pictures of me standing up, always hiding so have some bad "mug shots"

A couple of years ago, big family event (mom's 80th b'day) everyone was there - didn't want any pictures taken

Big family event in January, i might be at goal or close(i know wt. loss really slows down at end)

can't wait to have a nice picture of me and DH - haven't had one for 20 years.. Rest of family too - especially with the most beautiful kids in the world (present company excluded of course) the 3 kids, you guessed it, are my grand-children

things have been going better and better, healthier, happier.

just thought i'd share my joys with you all

kathy

As long you are happy, it's all that matters. I am happy for you. Keep up the good work. In my case, my boyfriend told me I look like a crackhead so now I am trying to gain a 10 lbs. I am too thin! Foreign language to me!

I hide behind the camera, too. :) I have taken all the tips I've learned over the years - but I can't hide those extra pounds. Looking forward to Wednesday for my surgery!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
