Curious- What Is Everyone Elses Diet Post-Op?

From some posts I've read, I'm feeling fortunate:

We are:

Wk1: Clear liquids & Protein shakes

Wk2: Add puree consistency(no chewing)- nothing thicker than mashed potatoes (can have grits, oatmeal and refried beans!)

Wk3: Add soft foods (some chewing)- eggs, fish and some canned meats, cooked or canned fruits

Wk4-6: Increase texture- Protein Bars, poultry, most meats except steak and chops, raw fruit as tolerated.

Wk7/8: Lifetime Maint Diet

My diet progression is the same as yours. The only difference is that my doc did not exclude any meats...the only requirement is the meat has to be tender..

One week clear liquids.

Four full weeks of full liquids.

Then regular foods.

Not sure why my Dr skips the soft food phase??

My postoperative diet is the same as yours. I just started my puréed foods stage!

3 weeks liquids only

3 weeks puréed diet

Then onto normal food, I am 11 days post op, can't wait for day 21 to go on puréed - 10 days to go!!

5 days before surgery clear liquids

*stage 1 2 weeks clear liquids after surgery

*stage 2 2 weeks full liquids... such as yogurt pudding cream Soups

*stage 3 2 weeks puree ... such as mash potatoes puree meats veg fruit everything blenderized

*stage 4 regular food low fat/low sugar portion control.. for life

I'm on stage 3... :) good luck

I was 2 weeks post op on an IV only, nothing going in my mouth. 2 weeks on clear liquids, the next 2 weeks soup and milk, nothing thicker than that. Then yogurt, chunky soups and pureed stuff. I'm 6 weeks post op and just starting solid food, and I could not imagine eating any sooner than this.

Mine was purees and soft proteins for the first month with everything else added as tolerated after that. Pre-op was clear liquids the day before surgery.

It's odd how different docs have different requirements. I wonder if this has anything to do with technique (i.e. 2 vs 3 rows of staples, preferred bougie size, etc.)

I'm 11 days post op and just finished 60% of a KFC Individual side of mashed potatoes for lunch (these seem to dissolve in the mouth- must be instant 'taters LOL).

This Tuesday I get to try fish and can't wait (although I feel as if my pouch could handle it now, I'm not getting ahead of myself).
