Thank you for the info. I had checked out Sisters Hospital and then found out my doctor moved

to ECMC about a year ago.

@@Jenngf5

You too were in ECMC? Do you need to request a private room or do you just get what they have?

My doctor said I would get a script for pain meds when I was discharged and should get it filled.

No. I am thru buffalo general kaleida health bariatric unit. But I've heard a lot of great things about ecmc and synergy. My insurance/referral was best thru buffalo general.

I got a call on 1/16 from Independent Health saying I was approved and then a call on

the 21st with all the info about the date for pre op at ECMC and the pre op workshop and

the date of the surgery from Synergy. That was a very long 5 days waiting for that call…lol.

As for the liver reduction diet I will be able to tell you more tomorrow after my

pre op at Synergy. They told me the appointment will take about an hour and a half.

@@Jenngf5

How are you feeling? Hope you are over the low grade fever and all is well with you.

Hi. Thank you for asking. I'm doing very well. I've been getting in my fluids and Protein since Friday but it is an all day affair.

Went for my 1 wk post op today. Still on liquids for another week :-( but then puréed/strained for another and then soft. The diet itself is a diet plan! Lol.

But I am happy. Lost 10 llbs

Hello Buffalo Peeps! Just wondering how many of you went to more than one info session to decide which practice/Dr to use. I think BGH is having an info session tomorrow and I am thinking of checking it out. I haven't been to any yet. Any comments or advice from those that have gone to any info session in WNY are welcome. Thanks!!!

I did most of my research online. I have spent months reading up on the different surgeries and started this wanting one surgery and changing my mind after more research. And don’t set your heart on one because a friend was going for one but the Doctor said she should get a different one for her circumstance. Good luck take notes so you can refer to what they tell you.

@@butterfly125 Its a requirement to attend the seminar.. trust me, the only reason I'm not going tomorrow is bc I don't have a support person to come with me... Those of you out there who are patients in the BGH program can better speak to that. Not sure why they would make it a requirement just for the info session. I don't think Synergy and the other group require the same.

For buffalo general It is a requirement to have a support person. I chose my mom in lieu of my hubby. The only two folks that knew of my surgery. I'm not completely sure why. The support person also comes to a couple of the scheduled appts. ?????

It was nice to have someone help w questions and talk to.

So, what if you have a spouse who isn't super supportive and are away from family?... I get that they want someone there to help you grasp all that is said, but I'm disappointed that they made it mandatory.

@@Jenngf5 who was your surgeon and how was your experience?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
