The OTC ones have way too much sugar and are basically a glorified candy bar- Here is a recipe I have made a million times for all natural protein/energy bars- You can add chips, raisins etc as you like but they are yummy and all natural...

  • 1 cup organic Almond Butter
  • 1 cup Peanut Butter
  • 1 1/2 cup organic local honey
  • 2 cups of Protein powder
  • 1 cup of rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup flax seeds
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder (optional)
  • add almond butter, Peanut Butter and honey to a bowl and microwave for 90 sec. Carefully mix until smooth. Then add remaining ingredients.
  • Pour /spread into a baking glas or baking sheet and cover-Referigerate over ***ht. THey will get a bit mushy in heat so etiher eat cold or freeze right before going out so they dont mush up. You can also use vanilla powder instead of chocolate and add chips or raisins etc...

How much Protein per bar?

I ran this recipe through MyFitnessPal recipe builder and it says that if you make 24 bars out of the recipe, you'll get 14 g Protein, 4 g Fiber, 13 g fat, 26 carbs, and 265 calories per bar.

Thanks for looking that up- My answer was going to be NO idea..

Personally it at this point for me is irrelevant for many reasons- A) I know what is going into them B) I am making them and c) they are all natural.

I know what you mean. I try to eat as much organic and natural as possible and stay away from Frankenfoods. I have been doing more of my own cooking. The parts of the diet (pre-surgery etc.) that require me to eat lots of artificial stuff with artificial sweeteners is going to be hard.

I prefer the Power Crunch Protein Bars. They are wafers instead of dense Protein so I don't feel heavy after eating them. Plus they taste really good:}

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
