Hi Everyone, I just got my 1st fill in my 10cc band and it was 4cc's, I didn't ask what I will get in 6 wks. I am not sure what I feel yet, but there is something different. I can't eat like I could 2 days ago! YEA!!!

All my fills are free for the 1st year. So I am glad that I don't have to pay everytime I go to get a fill.

I was banded on Oct 17 2006 and have lost 36lbs. Mary

Hi everyone, I am kind of frustrated at this point, as far as I understand I have the Inamed band that fills to 10 cc, my first fill was under flouro and he filled up to 8cc and I got uncomfortable and he withdraw till 3cc. I am up to 3.5cc 2nd fill but I dont fill any restriction, my question is during my second fill I made my Dr to withdraw the Normal saline to see if I have the original 3cc, he showed me I did, but I expected it to come out blue colored but it was clear..... Does anyone of your bands have a dye in it (the VG.)?

I ,too, have the VG 10cc band. My understanding is that the 4cc and the 10cc bands will tighten to the exact same size (internal circumference) when fully filled. Therefore it would seem we should have the same results or feelings of restriction as those who have the smaller band. The only difference is the fill doctor. They simply MUST give the 10cc banders larger, more aggressive fills.

I was banded in Mexico, due to insurance problems, but very fortunately found an excellent fill doctor in the US. My first fill was 4cc and the second 2cc. I actually have pretty good restriction at 6cc but I find myself fighting my band every day and eating all the bad "easy" foods.

I am going back in 4 days for a third fill. I am hoping for 1cc as I think this will make me think very seriously about cheating. I wish I were not a slave to food.

I went and had my second fill on the 13th. I now have 6cc's in my band.

I feel pretty good restriction, considering I was basically eating the way I was before the surgery. I am hoping this fill will give some results and last for a while.

I'll keep you posted.

Oh, and just for those who were wondering.....

My first fill was 4.6 cc's when I went back I couldn't wait to see how

much was left in my band. I was shocked to see that it was at 4 cc's.

I thought alot more would have been missing, but I guess I lucked out.

So he gave me 2 more cc's. :clap2:

So what does your restriction feel like now? I think this is where I'll be going on my next fill - 6cc.

I so want some restriction because other than the usual "can't eat this"(chicken breast) and "can't eat that"(bread) everything else is going right through. Control has not been my biggest asset so I'd really like to know what restriction feels like. Can you tell me?

BeacheeGirl's starting post is what I am feeling word-for-word.

I was banded with a VG on November 21st, and due to holidays, etc., got my first fill one week ago... 1.5cc's.

:faint:

No restriction at all... If I need to wait 5-6 months at 1cc per month to hit my sweet spot, I'll go crazy... and put back all the weight I lost.

My doctor stated that he does fills at 1cc per month. Is that a personal decision, or some sort of formal guideline? What is the average fill per visit for VG people..?

Andre,

The amount your doctor chooses to give at each fill is unique. As you can see my doctor is very aggressive with his fills and wants us to come in for another when we no longer feel our restriction is enough for us.

I was banded on 10/26 and have hit a plateau these last 2 weeks. I'm heading to Vegas with the girls this weekend and have an appointment for another fill next week. It should give me a week to adjust to the fill before I head to Puerto Rico on 2/1.

I'm at 8.5 cc's and I'd like a little more. I feel fuller for MUCH longer but it doesn't help me stop eating much earlier. I can still eat pretty much anything and have yet to PB.

Seriously, talk to your doctor about doing a more aggressive fill. The worst he can say is no!

Good Luck

Does anyone have a link to a location at inamed.com that references thier recommendation for filling VG Bands? I searched but found nothing specific to topic.

Thanks!

Hi Harlito-

Well I didn't really know what restriction felt like until I got this fill either.

Before this fill I could eat anything, bread, Chicken..you name it, I could eat it.

After my fill, my first meal was going to be a small salad and some chicken. I had about 4 bites of my salad and 2 bites of my chicken....I felt so full. I was actually shocked....and thought okay, this is how it's supposed to be. So don't lose hope, it's just like they say, once you have restriction you will know it!

Good Luck to you and let me know how your next fill goes.

Restriction is great. I am a)never hungry and b)can only eat about a 1/2 cup at a time. I try not to over do it and PB though. I have to be very careful.

I am so happy to see that 42% of the 10cc vg band folks take 8 plus cc's to get good restriction. I am almost there (at 8cc's) after 4 fills and was very frustated at not yet having good restriction. Maybe there is hope that after fill #5 I will get the restriction I so badly need!!

:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Hi, so glad I found this thread! I found out at my first fill 2 weeks ago that I also have the 10cc band. My doctor usually gives 4cc on the first fill, but since I live so far away from her and wouldn't be able to get back in case of problems, I asked for less. She gave me 2 cc, and I have NO restriction; I should have taken the larger fill. Thanks to all the posts here I now know that it will take me awhile, or even longer, to find my sweet spot and that is normal. I love this board!

Thanks for being here,

Karen

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
