I am scheduled! I am having the sleeve surgery with Dr Garcia 8/31 in Tijuana and I have so many questions.

What tests pre op and/or post op should be preformed?

How many incisions will there be and where will they be placed?

Do they leave one of the incisions open?

Will there be a drain left in and for how many days?

I plan to ask all those questions to my coordinator as well, I just want to make sure I know what is supposed to happen.

hi

i had a pre op test where they took a thin scope and put it down my nose until it hit my stomach to look to see if i had a hernia

then i had a pre op ekg and a pre op chest xray

also i did a stress test on a stationary bike

i had 5 incisions in my stomach during surgery, none of my incisions were left open

i did not have a drain

My daughter had her surgery with Dr. Garcia 6 months ago. We had a great experience and all the doctors and staff are super nice and the facility clean. You'll love Dr. Garcia. The day of surgery they did blood work, ekg and chest xray. Probably if you have other conditions or health issues they might do more tests, but she didn't have any health issues. She had a drain tube just while in the hospital and they took it out just before we left to go back to the hotel. She had 5 very small incisions with clear stitches that disolve on their own. They did 2 leak tests and the last one they recorded on a DVD they give you to take home along with the surgery report and test records. She's had no problems at all and recovered quickly. She's lost almost 70 lbs, 20 were pre-op. She's actually almost too thin although she still wants to lose more. We will be going to TJ again for other medical services. We had a great experience in TJ and have no reservations about going back again.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
