Looking For A Friend/mentor In Kentucky

Is there anyone on here in Kentucky that has either been sleeved or going through the process? I am in central Kentucky and it would be nice to have someone to chat with or text when I have questions or struggles. I know several people that have had gastric bypass and lap band but none that have been sleeved.

Hi all! I'm from central Kentucky, and was sleeved at Central Baptist by Dr. Weiss on Sept. 6th. Almost a week out, things are great! He's a wonderful doctor!

I'm in Richmond (Lexington area) as well. I was sleeved by Dr Weiss as well. 5-18-12.

On MyFitnessPal, I'm KristieAtkinson.

I think it's going slow. I'm down 59 pounds since surgery. 5-18-12. That's 4 months. I feel like I'm not doing as well as I should. My hair is coming out by the handfuls but the weight isn't coming off. I work out 5 days a week & eat less than 800 calories. 70-90 Protein.

I'm really stressed. How r u doing?

Hope you don't mind me chiming in..that's an average of almost 15 pounds a month,,I think that's amazing progress and you should be so proud of yourself. As for the hair loss, unfortunately it goes with the territory for some and you have to just let it take it's toll. From what I've heard, it grows back.

I appreciate the chiming in! I know you are right. I try not to compare myself to others (but I do!). And some are just killing the weight loss. I am trying not to stress the hair cause I truly believe it will stop & grow back, however it's hard not to freak out when the same large amounts come out daily.

I understand that..I'm almost 9 months out and feel like my loss should be higher but I'm hoping taking the slow road will limit the loose skin. I can relate to the hair loss too, my sister is a stylist and was cutting my hair..she told me I had 4 bald spots. I've been stressing over it ever since and that doesn't help. I'm making sure to take my vitamins and supplements daily as well as biosil. She's going to do scalp massage therapy on me but I don't know if any of that will help but at least my scalp will be as healthy as it can be for new hair.lol

i am from frankfort as well. would be more than happy to buddy up and have that extra support with local guys and gals..

i have a pulmonary test 7/24 and then i await my actual surgery date.. sooo excited. i will be having it done at central baptist in lexington with dr weiss...

So, have you had your surgery yet? Dr. Oldham is performing mine on Monday, October 22.

I was sleeved by Dr. Weiss back in February, and I've lost just over 60 lbs so far...i was hoping for more loss at this point, but I'm hoping that part of it is that I've lost over half of what I wanted so it's slowing down. I just started noticing some hair loss about a week ago, so I guess I should be happy it's taken this long to start falling out! :)

Hello all!! Am in KY and awaiting insurance approval and hopefully will be sleeved before 2013, with the good looking DR. W. from what I hear he's great.. So excited

Welcome new KY friend! Yes, Dr. Weiss is really pretty to look at. :)

How's everyone else doing?

My highest weight was: 356

At beginning of 6 month pre-surgery diet: 338

DOS (5-18-12): 288

Current weight: 216

Total gone forever: 140 pounds
