Hi all! This is so random and I will ask my doctor but for now I'm sure you guys know the answer to this question. Is getting a leak a risk only immediately after surgery. Or can leaks happen anytime for the rest of your life? I was sleeved on may 29... I'm down 36 lbs. I had no leaks even though I was a very complicated case. My dr told me that for sure I'd have a leak and prepared me. However he took his time and did a great job and I had no leaks nor complications. But can leaks still occur in me? Any feedback would help. Thanks.

My doctor told me once I passed 6 weeks after surgery I was outta the woods in terms of a leak happening. I don't believe you could get a leak any time in your life. I would think stomach nerves regenerates.

I was told the first 30 days is the most crucial.

I was also told the first 6 weeks. I was on full liquids for 5 weeks and Purees the 6th week.

:) So much information out there, but it's all different from doctor to doctor.

Good luck to you. I think as long as you keep chewing your food really really well you should be past the danger zone. ;)

I was told that the first 15 days are the most leak-prone, but that leaks can occur even a year post-op - it's just not very likely to happen, so I'm not going to spend any time worrying about that one.

My leak was discovered at 9 weeks out. I had it from at least 6 weeks according to my blood work (high ferritin).

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
