Day 3 Post Op. Everything " Runs" Thru Me. Literally

Recommended Posts

I got first meal tonight. I'm not ure if I ate too fast but it was not good. It tasted great but tummy gurgles and gas was painful and 5 min later and I barely made it to the restroom. Does it get better?

Yes it does. Your body has to relearn how to eat, digest and tolerate food all over again. Try to take it really slow, if that still doesn't work try to go back on liquids.< /p>

It sounds like you ate something that didn't agree with you. I had that happen the 2nd day I was on pureed. Now, I'm 5 weeks out, still on pureed because my Dr requires 6 weeks of it, and I had a great dinner tonight with a cup of egg flower Soup, some ma po tofu (eating only the tofu) and a bite or two of egg foo yung. Don't worry it will get better and next thing you know you will be complaining about the Constipation that seems to happen to most of us!

Could also be lactose but it's more likely the liquid diet. It definitely gets better, or none of us would ever recommend the sleeve to anyone!

Congrats on your new sleeve. Once you're done with recovery you'll feel a million times better and adjust quickly to your new normal.

It's possible that it wasn't a matter of the broth agreeing you... My body reacted that way to absolutely everything I consumed for the first couple of Weeks. For me, I think it was definitely a matter of "liquid in, liquid out." It got better the more solid food I could eat. :)

Gurgling may never go away. I gurgled all 6 years with my band, and so far still gurgle all 3.5 mos of my sleeve, especially when I eat something very dense like Jerky. I also hiccup a lot when I eat (not a soft stop, it comes after I stop eating).

Painful - could be a lot of things at this point. Eating too fast, or too much, or too much at once, etc. will all cause pain. Though for me, they're different pains.

Something running through you in 5 mins is not typical. Gas might be. Your stomach "prepares" to start working before food hits it, and there are some things in that preparation that could cause gas. Diarrhea would be typical (as said above, liquid inand liquid out - our bodies are not good at taking a Fluid and turning it into a solid).

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
