5 Weeks Out Of Surgery....stalling Already

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on June 5th. I had 2 weeks of the low cal diet prior to surgery. I'm down 23 lbs, which I'm very thankful for. This week, tho, I stayed the same. Today I started keeping a journal of when/what I am eating/drinking. I'm hoping I can figure it out that way. Should I be losing quicker? I'm drinking the Protein Shakes, and I'm eating eggs, turkey, cheese, etc. Did I break it???

I was sleeved on June 11 and went through a week where I did not lose any! It was so discouraging and then, I went to my mom's for 4 days and came back having lost 5 pounds! Don't be discouraged. Keep on keepin' on. Hope the weight moves for you soon!

Relax..... stalls are part of the process, ESPECIALLY this early in your journey. I'm surprised you didn't have the traditional "3 week stall". Your body has to catch up with itself. Remember, you just went through MAJOR surgery. There are only a handful of people I have seen post on this board that had a continued weight loss their entire journey and even fewer who had rapid weight loss during their entire journey.

Just keep doing what your doing. It sounds like you are just fine with Protein, Protein, protein, drinking your Water or other no calorie/ sugar free drinks. Others have made suggestions to take measurements of yourself because while the scale may not be moving, your body is likely still changing!!!!

I did have the traditional three week stall that many people on here talk about. I went a whole week without losing a pound, and then bam...it picked right back up! No worries carriecat, you will start up again!

I was basically stuck at the same weight from week 3- week 6. It picked right back up again

It's normal to feel like your not doing something right. But your doing great!

Im 4 Weeks out today, and have been in a stall for just under 2 Weeks. I noticed at day 16/17 that the scale was not moving, so I upped everything, Water, exercise, protien, calories, and just this morning, I saw the scale move slightly. Im not counting it as a loss just yet. Ill wait til wed/thur when I weigh again, to see what the scale has to say! Hang in there, this is a crazy ride!

Another thing I wanted to add is that even though you are not losing pounds you will be losing inches. My clothes stlll managed to get looser even though the scale was stuck....I even went out and got a new scale cuz I was convinced it was busted! hahaha

Use the board's search function and put in terms like "3 week stall". This is something that virtually everyone goes through. It can hit 2 - 5 weeks out, usually in weeks 3 or 4.

At week 3 I stalled for about 10 weeks.

BTW, one week with no loss isn't really a stall. That's a misnomer. It would be much more accurate to call it "an equilibrium period". It's your body doing what it is supposed to do.

I've been stalled for 2 weeks (4 weeks post op today). This morning I saw the first movement since those 2 weeks with a lb down. Praying tomorrow I see some more movement and can kiss this stall GOODBYE and welcome my SANITY back!

I even started our own thread for this, come on over! lol

THANK YOU all to have replied! I didn't know it was that common. I figured it was something I was doing. I am starting this week to excercise. My Protein is good, my Water is good. I was about to regret doing this, thinking that I royally messed up. Glad to know it's not just me. Not that I want anyone to stall, but knowing it happens sets my mind at ease.

I am taking everyone's advice and will keep keeping on! You all do the same as well!!

Good luck everyone! I go to my 6 week doc visit on Wed. Maybe I'll drop a few before then!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
