I feel like I should be doing something more. I am just sitting around waiting for all of my test results to make it to the Dr's office. It's the weekend, so I can't even call and find out what else needs to be done.

I'm not even sure if my insurance company has approved me for the procedure yet. I want to keep the ball rolling, but I'm sure there is anything else that can be done right now. I have shopped around for ideas for my liquid diet phase, I even bought a few Protein Shakes to practice with.

I can't wait for this next chapter in my life, and I hate that I have no control over how long this is taking. I want it to hurry up and be surgery time already. Ahhhh! Sitting around doing nothing isn't helping me at all. Is there anything else I can be doing right about now?

I know how you feel, PD! I was okay as long as I was going through the process, but when things stopped and I had to wait for the doctor and wait for the insurance, it drove me crazy. If I had been turned down, I was going to Mexico. So, I used the time to focus on that process. Then, miraculously, I was approved by the insurer. Probably not a good plan for everybody, but that's what I did!

Call your insurance company Monday morning, find out if they have all the documents needed to process your request. I have to admit I micro-managed that process, and I know my Dr.'s office didn't like it- but I didn't care. It was my life, my surgery and my journey! I've seen wayyyy too many times where the Dr.'s office didn't follow up to be sure that the insurance company received the request, or that they submitted everything required turning into delays or even worse denials because the request had to be re-submitted- effectively starting all over again.

Maybe there isn't anything you can do today, but I would make that my first order of business tomorrow IMO.

You know the old saying, "Patience is a virtue & none of us are virtuous." LOL  Can't control the things you can't control so don't beat yourself up. Get on line and start reading about pre-op & post-op diets. Go to YouTube and watch some of the people that have posted videos. Lots of great information. Good luck on your journey. Sending you best wishes & good vibes from WA.

I bought some EAS and Muscle Milk shakes so that I can start "practicing" with those. Another thing I need to practice is to not drink and eat at the same time. That has become such a habit for me, I thought I better start trying to change it now. I am also cutting back on my caffeine intake each day so that I won't be so addicted to it by the time I have surgery. Instead of 2 cups of coffee, I am drinking only one. Instead of 3 glasses of tea, I am having 1. Then I drink Water or sugar-free drinks for the rest of the day (usually water though). Hopefully in a week I'll won't be drinking anymore coffee and I will have switched to Decaf tea. I usually have headaches if I don't drink caffeine, so I didn't want to just quit cold-turkey.

I am going to call the Dr's office in the morning and see what else needs to be done. If there is nothing else that I need to do, I guess I will just have to suck it up and wait. I will check in with the insurance company tomorrow too. I just don't like waiting, I never have. Once I've made up my mind on something, I expect the world to be as ready as I am. LOL! ;)

Start exercising if you haven't already....walking is a great way to start and that may help relieve some of the stress of waiting!

That is a good idea, Sarsar. Although, one reason I don't/can't exercise is because of my CSF (Cerebral Spinal Fluid) pressure headaches. They have subsided some this past week, so I think I should be able to walk on the treadmill some next week. With the heat outside, I'm sure it will be best for me to stay indoors! I just need to take it easy, because if I do too much activity my headaches will be back and I will be laid up in bed again for a week or more. They are one of the reasons I am getting weight loss surgery. Hopefully loosing the excess weight will balance out my CSF pressure again. But, I am sure that walking some will keep my mind off of things. Thanks for the suggestion.

I called the Dr.'s office this morning. No answer...so I left a message. They haven't called back yet. Then, I called the insurance company. They haven't gotten any paperwork to pre-authorize my surgery. Darn it all...waiting still sucks.

The waiting is driving me crazy too. My doctors office scheduled my pre op appointment for 7/23 and told me that IF for any reason my insurance denies the request, then the appointment will be cancelled. So I'm left waiting and hoping I don't get that cancellation call. I'm marking the days off my calendar and doing my best to keep busy. Fingers crossed we both get a bit of good news soon!!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
