Multivitamin Enough?

Recommended Posts

I use optisource chewable Vitamins. They are available at Walgreens and are specially formulated for people who have had weightloss surgery. They are orange flavored and not too bad!

Interesting, I went out and bought Flintstones chewables yesterday, but think I may run by walgreens today and try these, especially seeing they are made for people who have had wls. They really taste ok?

Ok, I went by Walgreens to check out the optisource chewable vitamins. I talked to the pharmacist about them and decided I would stick with the Flintstones, lol. First off, they are $25.00 for one bottle. Secondly, they are formulated more towards gastric bypass patients who have malabsorption issues.

I take a multi and I take fish oil or flax seed oil about 70% of the time. Fish oil/flaxseed oil is the only supplement I've ever taken that noticeably does something - my hair and skin are great when I take it and I feel noticeably positive and upbeat, not that I'm often anything else. I take my multi everyday but I'm not 100% convinced that Vitamins on the whole do much except give you expensive urine. But I take it nonetheless.

That's all I take is a chewable Centrum. I am however going to get back on a Vitamin I used to take years ago. It's from GNC, it's a hair, Nails and Skin formula. When I took it before I had fingernails like rocks. They break a lot now so I'm going back on this.

My band doc recommends that all his patients take a childrens chewable Vitamin daily. I guess if your PCP or nutritionist felt you needed more, then take their advice. I don't think a daily chewable is going to hurt anyone and it seems to be good nutrition insurance in the event we are not getting enough Vitamins with our regular food. Just my opinion - I'm not a health care professional. :)

Stitchy, do you find the benefibers to be helpful? Not to give too much information, but ever since getting banded, I am lucky if I go once a week and when I do, it is a painful experience. I think I need to start taking something.

Our dietician recommends SUPRADYN soluble multi-Vitamin for the first 6 week liquids / mushy stages.

Once you're onto solids she recommends PLURAVIT, SWISSE, Centrum or other good quality Multivitamin and mineral supplement capsule. The SWISSE ones are expensive, and being large and may need to be broken in half to get them down.

I am currently taking a chemist's brand multivitamin & mineral capsule. When I need a boost, I also take a BEROCCA Performance (soluble B & C complex with zinc and magnesium).

I also swear by a daily dose of Probiotics for general wellbeing - I have one YAKULT or other fermented milk drink and / or about 1/3 cup of good-quality organic natural (or Greek) yogurt with about 2 teaspoons of honey on top. I am expecting to have to adjust the amount of yogurt post-banding.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
