Antidepressants After Surgery

Recommended Posts

Worried about this also. I take Effexor which is known to be one of the hardest anti- depressants to come off of. If I am even 2-3 hours late in taking it (usually on wkend when schedule is different than work) I feel it big time!! It's not a capsule' date=' so not sure about how it would be to crush it.

I don't think I would be able to go a day much less dayS with out it. I plan on getting off of it in the next couple of years, but I don't think now would be a good time to try.

This is probably my biggest fear...[/quote']

I'm on Effexor 100mg 2 times a day. 33 hours w/out it was horrible withdraw symptoms, high BP, freezing then burning up, nausea & dry heaves. I'm having to crush it & put it in something, so far nothing has worked to disguise the horrible taste. I also plan on lowering my dose cos right now I'm having excess drowsiness at this level.

Wellbutrin XR comes in 150mg tablets which are tiny...you should have no problem even 4 days after surgery. I didn't.

Effexor...you should taper off before surgery if you have the time since you will not be able to take it for a few days. My patients do well going from 150mg to 112.5mg for 3-4mg days then 75 mg for 3-4 days then 37.5 mg for another 3-4 days and then off.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
