Susie,

That is awesome that you are doing so well! I hope that my surgery goes as well as yours has. How was the flight? I have been concerned with that. I have to stop and change planes at Dallas love field, there was no direct flight from San Antonio to KC. Get to take off and Land twice :0 hopefully I can rest some on the plane.

How are you doing with Water? I hope that you are not having discomfort with that. Get some good rest and we will talk when you feel like chatting ;). Hugs, Joyce

My husband is traveling with me. I plan to have him carry on a bag and then we will check a bag on the way home so we have room for some things for the kids, plus I have to get some Mexican vanilla :). That way I will not have to carry a bag at all. I have a small purse sized backpack I will wear to carry my Water bottle and my instant Vitamin Water packets, then I will only need water from the flight attendant for my bottle. I do not want to be concerned with a bag on the way home. I also have my own mini pouch that folds out into a blanket, so I should be good for the flight home. Just praying that I do not get nauseous on the flight, that would be so embarrassing!

Are you traveling alone? I

I understand nervous! I am super careful of letting my mind "go" there :0

I can easily get all worked up over the things that could go wrong, so I am simply choosing not to think about it. I will save the meltdown for the hospital that morning.

So glad that you have family to travel and take care of you! My son told me the other day that if Dad could not have gone, that he would have taken me. He is 24 now, so that made me feel loved < 3

Icandothis-

Where are you flying from and what airline? I am flying Southwest because of the more direct flight from KC.

Midwest/ Republic is my airline of choice but they wanted to fly me to Denver then to TX, no thank you. The airline seats are small these days and the flights are much more crowded than they used to be. I don't fly often, I get very nervous flying, I never truly relax. Hopefully I will on the way back home thanks to the pain meds.

My hubby may have to learn to make Soup. He uses every excuse to stay away from the stove! Thank goodness that there is a Chinese place about a mile from my home that has good egg drop and wonton soup. Strain it and have a meal for me and he can eat the other stuff.

What day do you and your mom have surgery?

ICandothis have you come across the august sleevers post yet? There is one where you can meet all August prospects, and you can get your surgery date put on the list that FutureSkinnyPants is keeping track of. If you haven't been there, stop by later if you get a chance and introduce yourself. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/38113-august-sleevers-where-yas-at/

Hey Joyce ;), sorry for the late response, I've been busy resting and adjusting . I actually drive to eagle pass and back, my mom came with me. I drove their while she drove back (5 1/2 hours each way). We stopped each way and I walked half way through our trip. Thank goodness in getting in my Water an today and I bought some Protein bullets that I mix with water and my koolaid. You will do great! I'm on clears until Sunday then I move onto thick liquids , by the way, if u haven't purchased his book already, it tells u step by step what you can have through each phase and when. His book is great. As far as the flight change, I'm sure u will be ok. I was able to move the same day, I was just a little soar but trust me when I say, of my sensitive self can do or, so can u! ;) lol. Hope this helps, I know u as well as everyone else will do awesome! Btw to you and icandothis, make sure u don't get room #10, the water pressure is bad and u can't even take a shower. They changed the shower head for us but the pressure was still low, they ended up changing my mom and I to room 28 which was bigger and better.

You will do great, dr. A said I did so well on my liquid diet and that's what's so important! Stick to it and you will have no problems. you get tired of the "sweet liquids" but it will pass with time. They give u meds thru ur IV to help with gas, Naseau, pain, and all the above. U will be taken care of.

I am getting myself ready for the liquid diet. I am drinking a Protein Shake for lunch today. Skipped the fried chicken that we buy the boys at work on Tuesdays :)

I will make the mental note about room 10 ....thanks for the heads up! My husband is picky about his shower.

I am so glad that you are doing so well. That was a long drive to make in the car. Hubs did not want to drive me more than 12 hours so I get a six hour flight home with the lay over in Dallas. It will be fine though.

I do not have Dr. A's book. I will have to get one when we are there.

Where do you get the Protein bullets? I ordered a sample of Syntrex nectar Protein Shakes so I can try to find a shake mix that I really like. I figure I will need them for a while, may as well have a tasty one. I also have bought 2 bottles of the Isopure clear protein for right after surgery. Need to get the Unjury chicken broth ordered too. So much to think about! I have most of my Vitamins purchased for after surgery.

Any thing that I need to have on hand when I get home, please give me your tips

Hope you get some good rest today lady!

I bought protein bullets from Kroger, u can also try your local grocer, in the diet food/shake aisle . Doesn't taste bad at all and it's considered clear. Can't have powdered shakes until next week. You will be on ice chips the day after surgery starting later in the afternoon then room temp Water from about 5-9 pm. Of course they will assist you through out the whole process. I ordered Protein powder from try about time . Com and can't wait to try, supposedly it's great with no chalky after taste. I can't really afford to buy the Unjury right now, but would like to try it out soon. I feel lazy, but I'm able to move about. I walked for 20 minutes but been lazy since. Lol. I know u will do great, patience is the key ;). Dr. A will give u a copy if his book at discharge so you don't even have to ask him for one. I drive because I didn't see the point in buying two tickets then getting picked up afterwards and driving another 2-2 1/2 hours, it was way cheaper to drive and we saved a good chunk of money, I love driving so no bother here, plus my mom really helped and never left my side. I couldn't do the isopure, made me gagg, I like the bullets better. Best if luck to you, any other suggestions just ask!

The book comes in the package with all ur meds you take home with u, it's all inclusive, the Protein bullets in using now are fruit punch flavor by professional strength the elite series, also the same makers as muscle tech. I would take a picture but not sure how to do that thru my phone, lol. Hope that helps ;)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
