Surgery WITH the Band

Recommended Posts

I am having a surgery to have an ovary removed and will not be able to do it laporscopically, so it's apparently a long surgery. I was wondering if anyone else has had to have surgery post band and if it affected your band in any way? Should I have it deflated? Any tips for this??

Hello there. I had an ablation, (burning off of the walls of the uterus) 2 weeks after I was banded.

Both surgeons knew of the other surgery and expecially the anesthesiologist of the second surgery. No one thought it a big deal and I was fine...

Good luck with your surgery. I didn't have a fill at the time, but can't see any reason why I would have needed a defill.

You will be fine, surgery is so fast and efficient these days. As soon as I was off the table, I was on my way home. Sleepy but otherwise fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.

hugs

Jack :kiss2:

I had a super-cervical hysterectomy last summer without any problems.

same here.

Now that I think of it, I didn't have a fill then either, but I don't see any reason to be un-filled unless your real tight.

The best to you.

I had gall bladder surg. 4+ wks ago and had to have a unfill. I had to have an NG which is why I had to have a unfill. I would check with your lap band dr. and see what he wants to do. Good Luck

My band doctor removed my gallbladder about 8 months after putting in my band. No problems, I had no fill at the time. Everything went fine.

I haven't had to get unfilled before surgeries but my doctors & anesthesiologists were always fully aware of my band status.

This is good because I feared being stuck around the house after surgery, and finding myself snacking out of boredom. THANKFULLY this didn't happen since I kept my fill. :) .

I do remember that later, after surgery, it seemed I lost a bit of 'fill' when my band was moved during my TT, but luckily I felt some increased restriction (due to post surgical swelling). Anyway, I was happy I didn't get unfilled before that, either.

For my gynecological surgery, I got no unfill and saw no difference.

Good Luck & Happy Healing.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
