What kind of Soups? I am allowed creamed soups with no chunks. Unfortunately I could only get in about 4 teaspoons. I was told for sure NO potato Soup and NO Tomato Soup. Tomato soup is too acidic.

Honestly, I'd get approval from your doctor first. I had to do 2 weeks of clears, but was getting really sick of them & had my first post-op visit at 9 days out. My surgeon said I could start using regular Protein Drinks instead of just clears if I wanted to, but not to start anything else on the full liquid list until 14 days out. He said the risk of a leak is the highest in the first 2 weeks & if there were to be a leak they wouldn't want the heavier stuff to leak out. Please get approval before moving on though!

My Doc had me on full liquids 3 days after surgery, which included strained cream of mushroom and chicken Soups, and he said any normal cream of "blank" soups that are strained would be acceptable once I got home. So You should be OK, but I would call your Doc's office and ask them just to be safe. .

My doctor has me on 98% fat free cream Soups as long as I strain them. I'm on them for the first week after surgery - have to make them with Water though, not milk.

Your surgeon sounds a little strict but maybe hes had a lot of success with his patients taking longer? Its amazing how much they differ. My sister had the same surgery through the Army in Washington state and didnt even have to do a pre-op diet! I was supposed to do a 2 week one but didnt do very well on it  Its probably better just to go by his rules, I'm sure he has good reason. That being said, I felt so much better about my decision to have the surgery after I was on mushies :) Good luck!

yes, it is amazing the differences that surgeons have in progression of food. They all follow what they feel is right. Although I know some people progress faster, I picked my surgeon so I want to follow what he says & believe others should do the same. Progressing without doctor's approval could lead to issues even when others have progressed faster with other doctors. They all do what they feel is best and what they have the most experience with doing.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
