Take it out right before surgery and put it back in right after. You should be fine with it being out for a few hours.

My piercing guy told me ten hours max? I can't believe it closes that fast, but I've never really taken it out.

Over a year. Yikes!! I figure worst case I'll have to re-pierce. The place I got pierced tells me to just put a piece of fishing twine in the hole, but that seems like a bad idea.

I have my nips pierced, and they were only 3 months along at the time of my surgery. I had my piercer replace them with tigon. It's a clear rubbery/plastic-y place holder, basically, that is approved to have in place during surgery (medical grade tubing). They had no problem with it, as long as there was no metal. the tigon tube is held in place by two O rings on either side of the piercing. It's not pretty, but gets the job done and saves your piercing.

I was allowed to use plastic retainers in my piercings during surgery.

Yep, I used a "freckle" plastic retainer during surgery and had no problems.

I have a tongue piercing that's nearly 14 years old so I know taking it out a few hours the day of surgery won't be a big deal. But then I've also been thinking-- I'm 32 now and have had this since I was 18. Do I still want it?? Maybe leave it behind with the "old" me?? Still debating and surgery isn't til 7/23 but just thinking maybe I've outgrown it now. We'll see.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
