I'm two months out now! Whoo - many pounds down and my skinny pants are loose. But - I hate to eat. It's like a chore. And who would have ever thought I'd say something like that?!

I find myself not wanting to overeat my sleeve so I'm eating small bits of things. 1/4 cup cottage cheese and some melon for a meal, or a hard boiled egg. 1/2 of a turkey burger with a couple of pickles. But then I find myself feeling hungry again soon after so with the no drinking 30 minutes before meals and 45 minutes after meals, I have no time to drink.

So, wise ones who have gone before me, what should I be eating? Are my meals just too small? If I'm eating 1/4 cup of cottage cheese and melon, should I add something else to it? I feel like I'm needing to eat too often and it's such a drag. But I don't want to over do it and feel sick, either.

You may be eating too little, or you might benefit from more dense protien.

I think you are eating too little.Try adding a few extra teaspoons each time and see if it agrees with you. I was doing the same and feeling hungry too soon so I added a bit more and it worked for me. I , like Pookey, find the denser Proteins, like chicken breast, seem to stay with me longer than cottage cheese or yogurt do. All you can do is good old trial and error to see what works for you. I find I dont need to wait that long with the drinking, I can do a good 20-25 minutes before/after and be just fine. Good luck to you, let us know how you do.

I agree. Trial and error is right! We will get this right eventually. I am eating when I get hungry. About 5 times a day. I just make sure I get my Protein in and fluids and make sure my calorie intake is good and I am eating the right kind of foods. Everything will balance out in time.

Early out (in the first months) I measured by volume instead of weight, but once I started eating dense Protein (chicken/beef/firm cheese) I measured by weight. I made sure that I was getting at least 15 grams of protein for Breakfast and 30 grams for both lunch/dinner to be sure I would hit my 75 grams per day. I always focus on my protein first, and then if I have room I have a little veggie or fruit, or sometimes a bit of carbs. Make sure you're tracking!

Great tips! I just knew my buddies would be helpful!

Sounds like eating 5 times/day is the plan for now. Every time I eat chicken, it just feels so heavy. I know - keep trying. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that light food isn't sticking around for long.

I like the idea of splitting the day into 15/30/30 grams of Protein and then making up what I couldn't do as Snacks. And I'm excited to not have to wait 45 minutes to drink after eating!! Geez - I love spicy food and not having a drink for so long after makes it really difficult to eat anything wtih a spice involved.

Indymom - "Make sure you're tracking" That should be my mantra. It's impossible to make up for low Protein when you don't realize it until it's 10pm. :D

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
