Just found out my phyc consult resulted in a recommendation for therapy. I have to have my first one by a week before my surgery June 28th. I now feel stressed, a little judged, crazy and like this is going to block my surgery.

I would recommend proceeding with the surgery, I have a friend who was recommended to have more therapy instead he got antsy and went to Mexico and had wls. Well to make a long story short, 5 years out he nearly gained all his weight back. He had not mastered coping mechanisms that are needed. Even if they suggest a few weeks of therapy before surgery have faith that it is so that you can have the best long term out come. I know it's hard, we tend to get anxious and want it ASAP. Have you already been approved?

I am self pay. I am just required to get one session in before the surgery. It threw me for a loop. I thought I had done " fine" with my psych interview.

Oh, if your self pay, I'm sure your doctor will continue with your original surgery date. If your doctor says anything, just let him know that you will continue with therapy as needed.

Why don't you just do the one session before your surgery? There is some valuable information that you can get that will help you get started. Just because they want you to have therapy doesn't mean your crazy. It just means that you need some new coping skills to get through the hurdle. It's an all win situation! No losses, just wins all the way around! ;)

Let me preface I'm not trying to scare you out of surgery, but I want you to be successful!! One of my friends had WLS about 5 yeas ago as a self pay and wasn't psychologically ready. She turned into a sex addict, and then once she got over that she became bulimic. There are SO many crazy things that you will go through as you get ready for surgery...I'm really thankful that my psych saw something in me that made her say she wanted to see me a couple more times. Those follow-up visits were great and i came out with so much more confidence that I will be successful.

Please take the recommendation for more help seriously!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
