I'm three months out and have not vomited once. I'm a surgical RN and this is very abnormal. She needs to seek medical help. It could be an eating disorder as well. She needs help this is very harmful to her heart and other organs.

thanks everyone for your replies, Im so glad this isnt the norm. I hate vomiting, I guess everyone does, but I couldnt think of anything worse than constantly vomiting, especially if it came up that quickly that you couldnt reach the bathroom in time. It would impact greatly on normal day to day living & would probably turn me off the surgery. I hope she gets some help.

This can't be "normal"..I have thrown up twice and it's because I tried to eat something I figured I couldn't and I was right! I agree with Cookie. She needs to be strongly encouraged to seek medical attention whether it's a physical or mental problem. Perhaps she is unaware she smells like vomit. If you smell like something all the time, people become used to the smell. Either way, it doesn't sounds very " normal" to me.

I have vomited twice in 9 months. Both times it was because I ate too fast, and it was just the food coming up. It didn't smell and there were no gastric juices with it. Maybe she is seeking help and is under a doctor's care. I can't imagine anyone living like that and assuming it's normal.

About 3 months out, have not puked once. I do have some reflux but only if I eat too close to laying down/dozing off, or if what I eat earlier doesn't want to clear quickly. She should definitely at least ask some questions, but she will need to figure that out for herself. I have seen a LOT of people go down paths of self-destruction for mny reasons ranging from not having the money to meet a deductible, to knowing it's bad and prefering to live without the affirmation, so not realizing how bad something has gotten... you name it.

Now, having to smell a co-workjer who reeks of vomit, that's something else entirely. You're more patient with that one than I would be (I'm a sympathy puker and if I see/hear/smell vomit, it's a battle not to vomit myself, so having to deal with a pukey smelling coworker is not something I would take in stride...)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
