I was just sleeved Wednesday and have questions about the way i am feeling and if it's normal.

1. I am taking very very small sips but still have pain in my chest like its trying to filter down a tiny pipe (sounds gurgley sometimes) these small sips are making it impossible to get all my fluids in. Will this get better and can I take larger sips in time because now its like drops of Water to avoid pain.

2. My main incision stings like crazy sometimes but the others are just fine.... Is something wrong??

3. I have no desire to have anything in my stomach not Jello not broth not even liquid. I'm only sipping Water because I have to.

I'm starting to feel discouraged because I was hoping things would get better but is this what im going to battle the rest of my life? This sucks. I know it's still soon I guess I just need some reassurance that it gets better. The thought of any food makes me sick :-(

Give it a few more days. I felt the EXACT same way, and by my fourth or fifth day I could start tolerating liquids a bit more. Do you also have a drain attached to your abdomen?

No I don't have a drain .. What's that for?

It's a subdermal drain that provides low suction to get liquid samples just below your skin. Just to make sure there isn't a lot of blood clotting

Sounds pretty normal and pretty much like everything most of us have gone thru..... but if you're ever concerned definately contact your doctor. You are still in the stage where everything is swollen and healing and everything should get a lot better within the next few days.

I didn't want anything to drink or eat either. When I did sip Water I had horrible stomach pains.... in fact some were so bad, they felt like labor contractions. I found that ice chips where easier on my tummy than Water. I would just continually suck on those to get my liquids in.

Hope ya feel better real soon.

It WILL get better.

Your desire to eat will return and your ability to drink will come back too. The small sippy-sips will turn into larger sips and eventually mouthfulls.

The gurgling.... thats gonna be with you for a looooong time! :)

The incision pain should be subsiding soon- if not call your surgeon.

It gets easier every day. Promise!

Ok thank you all. I just gotta hang in there. The only reason I was concerned is because I have a high tolerance to pain and this just stinks. I'll give it another few days. I'll most likely have a totally different attitude.

I had my surgery 4 weeks ago & had the exact stuff happening. My doc said it was normal. Extra stitches in the incision where the stomach was removed was slower to heal. I also discovered that the difference between enough & that gurgling sound is 1/2 tsp!

I'm having the contraction pains right now. I was sleeved on Monday. I guess it is pretty normal. I will be glad when it stops.

My pains are less and less. I guess I just needed to be patient lol. I just had a mini break down thinking omg im going to be miserable forever. I'm so pumped about recovering now I don't care what I am even missing out on food wise. I wanna get back in the gym and get this weight off.

:-) :-)

By the way I found this kind of funny so I thought I would share. Im not physically thinking about food at all or missing it etc. but apparently subconsciously I am worried about screwing this up because the past 3 nights I had a dream that I ate something I wasn't suppose to and totally ruined my weight loss. I feel like such a dork dreaming about food but I guess when you have gone this long with out any "real" food silly things are bound to happen. At least this liquid diet is way easier after surgery.

That is SO funny because I've had the exact same types of dreams! one night I had a dream that I went out with friends and I ate a slice of deep dish. It felt so real that when I woke up I was like, what the heck?? Did it really happen??

I am almost 4 weeks out and felt the same way you did. Make sure you get your fluids in. I didn't and was readmitted to the hospital for dehydration week 2.

I still have no desire to eat anything, but I make sure I do, otherwise I feel terrible and have no energy. I had bad dreams the first couple of weeks too and woke up feeling sick, like I actually ate the food I was dreaming about. I found tylenol PM helps me sleep like a baby.

I have found some things don't agree with my sleeve(protein shakes), but that is something you will have to experiment with.

What I miss the most is being able to drink a whole glass of Water to satisfy my thirst. The sipping thing was tough to get used to. Now I can take in more than a sip which is nice.

The way I feel is getting better as time goes by.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
