I bought the sweetest watermelon night before last and it tasted great to me... too good :( I could not stop eating it even though it was filling me to the brim and I was getting miserable. I never did get sick ( unfortunately) but I do know that I cannot eat watermelon because I have no control. This is the first food since surgery on 4/11 that has had that control on me. Saying it to "my family" makes it all better.

Thanks!!

Wow, interesting that something that's almost all Water can still cause you to feel overfull. Good to know since I absolutely love watermelon. I'll definitely take it easy post-op.

It is definitely slider food. I'll eat a bowl of it because it's low in calories, high in Water content and I feel better when I can finally eat a quantity of something.

I cut it up and freeze squares of it in snack size bags. Then when I want some, I pull out just one frozen bag of it. I have it instead of a SF popsicle or when I need to increase my Fluid intake. It is not any good if you let it thaw and get mushy. Then it tastes bad. Cantaloupe seems to keep better frozen and tastes wonderful. Honey dew as well. I freeze all of them. Might want to give this method a try. It is also hard to chuck it down when it is frozen and you have to chew it as well as it making your mouth really cold.

Right after surgery ( a month or so) I was getting so light headed and dizzy that I asked my surgeon about snacking between meals with it and he said fine. I was very worried at first why I could eat so much of it and not other things! lol Watermelon gets a bad rap but it has great nutrients in it too! Love it!

My surgeon recommends watermelon. It counts toward your liquid intake and that was the only think with texture i could have first week. Everything else clear liquids...it really satisfied my need to CHEW and not go crazy...I ate very fast the first time, GROSS feeling...but after that ive been able to get a whole lot of it in...slowly!

Just be sure to chew it real well. Take small bites and wait before you take another. Assess how it makes you feel and decide from there. You are not going to get the 'normal' full signal, so only have a couple pieces and stop.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
