Aetna... I Want To Cry!

Recommended Posts

I have a Bmi of 35. Aetna requires a co morbid condition for a BMI under 40. I have to show a weight for 2 years but do I also have to show the co morbid condition for 2 years? I have high blood pressure but I haven't had it for 2 years. I'm scared because I have done everything including the weight management class. Im scared I will be in vain. Anyone know if u can still be approved if ur co morbid condition is not 2 years old?

I don't know (because I don't have that insurance), but I would thinks so. It shows a decline in your health condition due to the weight.

I have Aetna. I had the sleep study done in September, 2011 and was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I did not have any other co-morbidities so I did not have two years worth of documentation on that. I did have the two years weight history. I completed my three month nutrition program in December. I was approved within two weeks and had surgery on 1/30.

I don't believe you have to have had the co-morbidity for 2+years. I didn't have to worry about this as my BMI was way over 40, but it wouldn't make sense for you to have to have the problem that long before surgery is allowed. Please don't be scared or worried that it will be in vain. It would suck if you were denied, but then you will appeal it and you will fight for it! This whole process is a learning experience and will never have been in vain. If they deny you this year, keep doing it until you get it. I will say, based on what you've provided, I don't think they will deny you.

Good luck!

Seven years ago i jumped thru all the hoops and was still denied for the lap band. On June 25th, 2012

I will be having a sleeve done with Dr. Garcia. I was greatly hurt when i was denied but am grateful

I am not having to live with a lap band. Glad to be joining the sleevers soon. I believe now it happened for

a reason.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
