Hello everyone :)

A new warm body here to join you all in your weight loss adventures. I was given the address of this place by a friend, who (from what I've seen) has a pure addiction to this forum.

I'm not sure where to start, but since this is the introduction thread, guess I should share some information yeah? I'm a young adult living in the midwest US and have been overweight most of my life. I've known about surgery options for getting help with this problem for a few years now but honestly have tried to keep them as far away as possible. My line of thinking used to be that, surely that would be taking the easy road out, wouldn't it? I realize now, many pounds gained later, that this of course is not the case in the slightest. I know several people who have had both elective surgeries performed and all have had amazing results.

My own personal decision though is one I'm having a hard time making. food has been my comfort for a long while. I know that if something doesn't change, however, the sad form of a life I've got currently will end, probably painfully and within a shorter amount of time than I'd prefer. I want to be healthy and I know that's going to take work. I didn't get overweight in a weeks time. It took years. I know the same is going to be needed to get myself to a place where I am finally able to go into a Dr's office and not get the standard lecture about how I am “obese” and am “in serious danger of other health risks”.

That sounds so dirty... obese. Maybe it should be o-bese so it's sort of a 4 letter word.

I've been presented with the option of a possible trip to Mexico to have my own lap band surgery performed. I haven't done much research into who I would be able to see once all is said and done. Hopefully it's not something that requires too much of a specialist and a local doc could be in charge of things post-op. I've enjoyed reading threads you've all created so far, and I hope to keep finding more with such great information. Any advice, gripes, cheers, stories... please, share them. I look forward to getting to meet everyone.

:)

Welcome. I've been banded since March. I may not be losing as fast as some, but this is the first time in years that I'm not gaining. I'm happy with my band and look forward to a long relationship with it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
