Date Scheduled But.... Complications Board

Recommended Posts

Thank you for posting this I needed this reassurance too. I have one child, I'm in school for radiology, I work, my fiance works 60 he weeks and I'm going insane with worry and I still have 3 months till my operation and my surgeon is Dr almanza, in mx and self paid. I will have my sleeve between summer and fall break of school which will give me two weeks to recover. I'm a strong willed person so if there are no complications then I feel from reading others stories I will be fine, but if there are complications I am messing with my future (in school/work/life) but I'm taking my faith in God in knowing this is the right decision. Things will lay out the way they should. Good luck to you!

I like perspective.

The complication rates for this surgery are lower than the risks of driving a car. Do you question your potential for a fatal car crash every time you get into a car? Likely not, because it's routine. The difference is that surgery isn't routine for most people, it's a fairly rare event. Like when planes crash. It's traumatic because it's unusual, and concentrated. Far more people day in many other, obscure ways each day. But it's the plane that people tend to be afraid of.

Surgical rates are also overblown, because the way they're actually reported is not the way that the everyday interpreter assumes they are. I have a fairly long post explaining this somewhere, let me see if I can find it. I've had a lot of people tell me it has made them feel a lot better. ;)

Here you go. If you have a few mins, read this. It will help you understand what complication rates really mean, and how they really do look worse than they are. ;)

Sorry I meant if I was in the hospital' date=' I don't know that we could find someone to help watch the kids.

Do I really want to do this while they are little? Do I really want to risk dieing to be thinner? I'm miserable with the way my life is right now as far as trying to buy clothes, etc but. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />. On one hand I can see all he positives that can be gained from this surgery. On the other hand I see the ultimate negative.

Does anyone else have young children and went ahead and did the surgery. My bmi is 39.9. I can lose well, keeping it off is the hard part.[/quote']

I have 5 kids, 23, 20, 11, 8, and 6, I did give it thought but did it anyway. You know when it's our time, it is our time. So if it is I could of been in the kitchen cooking! I know sounds crazy but we have to take care of ourselves before we can take care of others! Good luck, lori

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
