Is it just me or is the surgeon's followup a bit of a scam? "You look great. Any problems? Hop on the scale." 5 minutes and 83 later I don't know if I will keep my next 3-month appointment!

Good news is I was 83 kg with clothes on. I also think it is a crock that the surgeon uses my highest lifetime weight as his measuring stick rather than the day-of-surgery weight. Call me a cynic I guess.

That's fantastic news misty. 83kg that's awesome! My 3 month is next week and I'm pretty much expecting the same thing from my surgeon too. So if you're a cynic so am I!

That sounds rightMisty. i went to one appt one month post op then didn't go back until 9 months. I am going to go to my 12 month appt shortly then that's it. It's good really that we don't have issues and have ti keep seeing them.

Today is the day! After many months of research, planning and decisions, I can't believe it is finally here! Keep me in ur prayers today and I will see u all on the losers bench!!! (Op will b sometime after 3pm)

Aussiegirl - lol it's the overall goal that matters not a day life happens! It was raining here on the first day of my challenge so I couldn't go for a run. Don't sweat it- just do what you can when you can!!

Misty the fish cakes sound good!! I am totally craving them now

Cold issues- I have been cold since the surgery. It's not as bad as when I was in hospital but it's still bad lol.

I had a lovely moment today where a work colleague told me I was "fading away" lol. Considering I still want to lose 10-15 kg more I thought it was a nice thing to hear helped motivate me to go jogging tonight!

The surgeon accidentally knicked my bowel, so he stitched it back up and has me on hard core antibiotics. Hopefully he will do the sleeve Friday.

How absolutely horrible for you I am so sorry to hear of both the delay and the complication.How are you feeling in yourself?

Are you in hospital? I hope he has made sure you are comfortable.Do you still trust your surgeon?

I am still in hospital and will likely be here until they do the sleeve. I'm feeling ok, just a bit sleepy still. No pain what so ever but then I guess they haven't actually done much. Lol

I totally trust my surgeon. He is really good. He came to visit before and explained exactly how It happened (even drew me pictures) and what the plan from here is. He is being cautious which is great. He said he could have done the sleeve but didn't want to run the risk of infection. I am happy with his decision, even though more waiting sucks!

it must be really disappointing to have woken up without having had your Sleeve done. However, it's far better to have a cautious Surgeon than a 'cowboy' who is prepared to put you at risk.

I have everything crossed for you that your Sleeve goes ahead on Friday.

Helen it sounds like you are in good hands even with this happening. Will you health fund cover the extra days in hospital? Best to be safe than sorry. Keep us posted and we will be thinking of you until we know the sleeve is done and all is well.

So sorry to hear that. It must be frustrating to have to wait! My surgeon nicked my spleen during the surgery and I lost a lot of blood. I totally trust and respect him as a surgeon, I guess like all of us surgeons are human and these things happen. They are working in a very confined space. I wish you well for Friday!
