Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Recommended Posts

Oh my gosh! Woo hoo ! I am finally logged on!! Hi again everyone and a very warm welcome to the newbies- I have been trying and trying to log on for ages. Reading all the posts has been great but sooo frustrating not to be able to reply. I hope this works on my phone which is what I usually use....

Last time I posted I was so hungry, craving carbohydrates mainly, lots of head hunger, and couldn't work out why. Then I got my TOM for the first time in four months since the surgery. Suddenly I just couldn't fit *anything* into my sleeve for a few days. Go figure.

Now 30kg down and fitting into regular size 16-18 depending on the store. This is my surgical goal but I am still slowly losing and I have until January until the magical six month rapid weight loss window closes. I just cannot believe that I can walk into a regular size shop and try on things that fit me. More unbelievable is how much cheaper the clothing is (obviously not shopping for designer stuff yet - Lol). My arthritis continues but I know that if I had not had the sleeve I would be walking now with a stick. No knee pain now and my foot pain no longer makes me cry :) Love my sleeve and missed chatting with you guys.

Congrats on reaching your surgeon's goal! wow that seems quick! You must feel great. I know what you mean about sizes. I am just moving to 14s and it is so hard to believe.

I'm so happy there is some action on this thread and everyone is finding their way back!

I'm not on the Questran right now, just waiting to make sure all the surgery stuff is sorted out first. I think the wound is healing well, the pain is somewhat less. I see the surgeon again on Monday and we will re-evaluate then. I am on day 3 of 5 for the antibiotic.

Hi Everyone, I have been keeping up with all of your news but life has been a bit hectic so I haven't been posting much anywhere.

Welcome Back Sarahjp, I hope 'Dr Grumpy' is as happy with your loss as you are? Congratulations on your determination to make this surgery work for you. I am still seeing him and I actually got a hug and a smile out of him at my last visit, when I showed him the pictures of me on the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge which I climbed on 5th October.

Sueoco, I have never liked exercise and at 7 months post op, I still can't/don't want to make it part of my life. So, well done on joining the Gym.

Merry, I know that lots of people lose their hair post op, however, I am 7 months post op and my hair is healthier, thicker and looking better than ever. So don't count on losing your hair because it may not happen.

Misty, I am sorry that you are unwell after your surgery and I hope that the antibiotics do the trick before you travel back to India.

I have now lost 30 kgs and have done something very impulsive, which I would never have done 7 months ago. I have booked myself a very quick trip to Sydney for the Sydney 500 V8 Supercars Final Round which is on over the weekend of 6,7,8 December. My favourite driver Craig Lowndes has a chance of winning the 2013 Championship and I have a Grandstand ticket at the finish line to see him win. I just a bit excited *in case you didn't already get that, lol*. I am a little anxious that I won't fit in the airplane seat, but I'll worry about that when I'm on the plane on Thursday. lol

If there are any Sydneysiders who would like to get together for coffee or dinner over the weekend, I'd love to catch up. I'm staying in Parramatta and I won't have a car but I can do taxi's if necessary.

Keep up the great work everyone and have a wonderful Thursday.

Michele

Michelle - would love to catch up with you when you are in Sydney. Parramatta is not far from where I live so I can come to you. Lissa, Susan and I actually met up there for brunch (which lasted about 6 hours!) because Lissa was staying in Paramatta when she visited Sydney. Also I think Kelli is going to be in Sydney early December - Kelli do you know what dates yet? If Parramatta doesn't work and the city is better I am happy to meet up with you and travel into the city.

Hmmm. How do I 'like' a post using an android phone? There are no options for it.Tapping the header doesn't do it.

Less - sorry - I am an apple user so I will be no help - glad you found your way back!

Misty a great tip someone gave me. To dry any wound with a hair dryer on cool to prevent infection or to clear it up quicker. This is something I do and I have never had a prob.

Hi Sue, I am coming to Sydney Monday 9-Wednesday 11, but work has me fully booked this first trip. Sorry, we will meet next time, even if I come down a day early.

HI Everyone, Ive been gone again for awhile. Ive officially broke 30kgs mark in my weightloss, one of my big weightloss goals. But i'm going to ask a silly question. Does anyone else have issues with being uncomfortable setting after all this weight lose? its like my pelic bones are rubbing against everything I sit on. Unfortabe at the best of times. I guess I will have to get use to using a cussion to sit on. Is it just me or is it a issue for others ??? Hope everyone is well Sarah

I've only lost 17kgs and I find that laying on my side in bed I can feel my hips dig in the bed. 1. I thing the rest of my weight is pushing down on less padding and 2. Need a new bed

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water. Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
